Association between Sarcopenia and Survival in Patients Undergoing Gamma Knife Surgery for Brain Metastasis from Breast Cancer: a Retrospective Single-centre Cohort Study
Many recent studies related to cancer surgery have reported that sarcopenia influences mortality in surgical patients. However, few comprehensive studies have examined the associations between sarcopenia and short- and long-term surgical outcomes of metastatic cancer, especially breast cancer with brain metastasis. In the present study, we investigated the association between sarcopenia and mortality in patients who underwent gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS) for brain metastasis with breast cancer. Efficacy and Safety of Programmed Death-1 (PD-1)/Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-L1) Checkpoint Inhibitors in Patients with Metastatic Castration-resistant Prostate Cancer: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
The aim of this systematic review with meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of programmed death-1 (PD-1)/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) checkpoint inhibitors in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). (Source: Clinical Oncology)

The association of incidental radiation dose to the heart base with overall survival and cardiac events after curative-intent radiotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer: results from the NI-HEART Study
Cardiac disease is a dose-limiting toxicity in non-small cell lung cancer radiotherapy. The dose to the heart base has been associated with poor survival in multiple institutional and clinical trial datasets using unsupervised, voxel-based analysis. Validation has not been undertaken in a cohort with individual patient delineations of the cardiac base or for the endpoint of cardiac events. The purpose of this study was to assess the association of heart base radiation dose with overall survival and the risk of cardiac events with individual heart base contours. Rationale and Design of a Phase II Trial of Combined Serplulimab and Chemotherapy in Patients with Histologically Transformed SCLC: a Prospective, Single-Arm and Multicenter Study
Transformed small cell lung cancer (T-SCLC) is a highly aggressive clinical disease with a notably poor prognosis. It most often arises from epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) following treatment. To date, no standard treatment has been established for T-SCLC. Platinum-etoposide was the most commonly used regimen, but progression-free survival remains unsatisfactory. Therefore, there is an urgent unmet need to develop novel and effective strategies for this population. (Source: Clinical Oncology)

Hitting the Target: Developing High-quality Evidence for Proton Beam Therapy Through Randomised Controlled Trials
We present a summary of three UK PBT RCTs in progress, including consideration of their key design characteristics and outcome assessments, to inform and support future PBT trial development. The first three UK multicentre phase III PBT RCTs (TORPEdO, PARABLE and APPROACH), will compare PBT with photon radiotherapy for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, breast cancer and oligodendroglioma, respectively. A Repurposing Programme Evaluating Transdermal Oestradiol Patches for the Treatment of Prostate Cancer Within the PATCH and STAMPEDE Trials: Current Results and Adapting Trial Design
Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), usually achieved with luteinising hormone releasing hormone analogues (LHRHa), is central to prostate cancer management. LHRHa reduce both testosterone and oestrogen and are associated with significant long-term toxicity. Previous use of oral oestrogens as ADT was curtailed because of cardiovascular toxicity. Transdermal oestrogen (tE2) patches are a potential alternative ADT, supressing testosterone without the associated oestrogen-depletion toxicities (osteoporosis, hot flushes, metabolic abnormalities) and avoiding cardiovascular toxicity, and we here describe their evaluation in men ...

Correlation of the Geriatric Assessment with Overall Survival in Older Patients with Cancer
Global guidelines recommend that all older patients with cancer receiving chemotherapy should undergo a geriatric assessment. However, utilisation of the geriatric assessment is often constrained by its time-intensive nature, which limits its adoption in settings with limited resources and high demand. There is a lack of evidence correlating the results of the geriatric assessment with survival from the Indian subcontinent. Therefore, the aims of the present study were to assess the impact of the geriatric assessment on survival in older Indian patients with cancer and to identify the factors associated with survival in th...
