Efficacy and safety of telitacicept in patients with lupus nephritis: a single-center, real-world retrospective study
ConclusionsTelitacicept treatment reduced disease severity in patients with LN. The initial clinical trial provided supportive evidence for the effectiveness and safety of Telitacicept as a viable treatment option for LN, allowing a reduction in the daily glucocorticoid intake while maintaining a good safety profile, and improving hypocomplementation in LN management. Comparative effects of sodium –glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors versus dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors on kidney function decline in Japanese individuals with type 2 diabetes
ConclusionsThis study provides potential evidence of the superiority of SGLT2is over DPP4is in slowing kidney function decline in Japanese adults with type 2 diabetes and eGFR ≥ 30 mL/min/1.73 m2. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Nephrology)

Ability of NAD and Sirt1 to epigenetically suppress albuminuria
In this study, we demonstrated the ability of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and its metabolites to reduce albuminuria through Sirt1- or Nampt-dependent epigenetic regulation. We previously reported that proximal tubular Sirt1 was lowered before glomerular Sirt1. Repressed glomerular Sirt1 was found to epigenetically elevate Claudin-1. In addition, we reported that proximal tubular Nampt deficiency epigenetically augmented TIMP-1 levels in Sirt6-mediated pathways, leading to type-IV collagen deposition and diabetic fibrosis. Altogether, we propose that the Sirt1/Claudin-1 axis may be crucial in the onset of albumi...

Association between lactate dehydrogenase to albumin ratio and acute kidney injury in patients with sepsis: a retrospective cohort study
ConclusionThis study demonstrated that elevated LAR was associated with poor prognosis in patients with sepsis. The risk of AKI and in-hospital mortality increased, the need for RRT increased, and the chance of recovery of renal function decreased with the increase of LAR. Zinc deficiency induces hypertension by paradoxically amplifying salt sensitivity under high salt intake in mice
ConclusionThe combination of zinc deficiency and high salt causes hypertension. Zinc is associated with salt-sensitivity, potentially through NHE3 and NCC regulation. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Nephrology)

Cigarette smoking and progression of kidney dysfunction: a longitudinal cohort study
ConclusionLarge longitudinal observation study revealed smoking has an evil effect on the progression of CKD. This evil effect could be observed in CKD patients with proteinuria as well as in general population without new-onset proteinuria. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Nephrology)

Machine learning in risk prediction of continuous renal replacement therapy after coronary artery bypass grafting surgery in patients
ConclusionsMachine learning models were developed to predict CRRT. This contributes to the identification of risk variables for CRRT following CABG surgery in ICU patients and enables the optimization of perioperative managements for patients. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Nephrology)
