PITX2 DNA-Methylation: Predictive versus Prognostic Value for Anthracycline-Based Chemotherapy in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Patients
Conclusion: In this hypothesis-generating study PITX2 DNA methylation demonstrated predominantly predictive value in anthracycline treatment in TNBC patients. The risk of poor outcome (OS) correlates with increasing PITX2 DNA methylation.Breast Care (Source: Breast Care)

Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy May Prevent Unnecessary Axillary Dissection in Patients with Inflammatory Breast Cancer Who Respond to Systemic Treatment
Conclusions: SLNB may be considered in selected axilla-downstaged IBC patients including patients with a pCR with HER2-positive and triple-negative tumors. Axillary dissection may be, therefore, omitted in those with negative SLNs.Breast Care (Source: Breast Care)

Phenotype Discordance between Primary Tumor and Metastasis Impacts Metastasis Site and Outcome: Results of WSG-DETECT-PriMet
Conclusion: We demonstrate receptor discordance to occur relatively frequently between PT, LN metastasis, and DR and to impact patient prognosis. However, clinical consequences of receptor discordance need to be drawn with caution considering clinical aspects as well as tumor biology.Breast Care (Source: Breast Care)

Prognostic Impact of Immunoglobulin Kappa C in Breast Cancer Patients Treated with Adjuvant Chemotherapy
Conclusion: IGKC expression had an independent prognostic impact in early breast cancer patients who received adjuvant chemotherapy. There was a significant interaction with the use of tamoxifen.Breast Care (Source: Breast Care)

Human Acellular Dermal Matrix (Epiflex ®) in Immediate Implant-Based Breast Reconstruction after Skin- and Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy and Treatment of Capsular Fibrosis: Results of a Multicenter, Prospective, Observational NOGGO-AWOGyn Study
Conclusion: The rates of most complications were comparable to the rates reported for other ADMs with relatively low rates of capsular fibrosis and infections. The rate of seroma was increased in our study. Prior radiation therapy increased the risk of any postoperative complications. Therefore, the use of ADM in these patients should be considered carefully.Breast Care (Source: Breast Care)

Impact of Oncoplastic Breast Surgery on Rate of Complications, Time to Adjuvant Treatment, and Risk of Recurrence
Conclusions: Even though the present study confirmed expected differences in complications and morbidity, it suggested that oncoplastic surgery is oncologically safe. Patients undergoing NSM/SSM should be followed closely to allow early detection and treatment of frequently associated complications and ensure timely start of adjuvant therapy.Breast Care (Source: Breast Care)

First Prospective Cross-Sectional Study on the Impact of Immigration Background and Education in Early Detection of Breast Cancer
Conclusions: No tumor biological differences were seen between immigrants and German natives. In first-generation immigrants, early detection programs were well accepted despite sociocultural and language differences. Participation rate decreased significantly with higher education levels irrespective of country of origin. Immigration background does not have a negative effect on the participation in breast cancer screening. This mainly relates to immigrants from EU27 member states.Breast Care (Source: Breast Care)

Metastatic Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2-Positive Breast Cancer: Current Treatment Standards and Future Perspectives
Background: The basis of improved systemic therapy for inoperable or metastatic human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer is formed by HER2-targeting monoclonal antibodies. Dual HER2 blockade with pertuzumab and trastuzumab in combination with docetaxel in previously untreated patients, and trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1, an antibody-drug conjugate [ADC] consisting of trastuzumab, a linker and a cytotoxic payload) after prior trastuzumab therapy have demonstrated progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) superior to what was achieved with the previous treatment routine. Therefore,...
