PI3K/AKT/mTORC1 signalling pathway regulates < em > MMP9 < /em > gene activation < em > via < /em > transcription factor NF- κB in mammary epithelial cells of dairy cows
This study aimed to explore the underlying mechanism of MMP9 expression. In this study, to determine whether the PI3K/AKT/mTORC1/NF-κB signalling pathway participates in the regulation of MMP9 expression, we treated mammary epithelial cells with specific pharmacological inhibitors of PI3K (LY294002), mTORC1 (Rapamycin) or NF-κB (Celastrol), respectively. Western blotting results indicated that LY294002, Rapamycin and Celastrol markedly decreased MMP9 expression and P65 nuclear translocation. Furthermore, we found that NF-κB (P65) overexpression resulted in elevated expression of MMP9 protein and activation of MMP9 promo...

Association analysis of the sorting nexin 29 (SNX29) gene copy number variations with growth traits in Diannan small-ear (DSE) pigs
In conclusion, our results confirm that SNX29 CNV plays a role in regulating growth and development in pigs, thus suggesting its potential application for pig breeding programmes.PMID:38315463 | DOI:10.1080/10495398.2024.2309956 (Source: Animal Biotechnology)

Prevalence of growth hormone receptor gene polymorphisms and their association with milk production and fertility-related traits of cross-bred dairy cows in Sri Lanka
This study investigated the association of selected growth hormone receptor (GHR) gene SNPs with selected fertility and milk production-related phenotypes of cross-bred dairy cows (n = 153) reared on three National Livestock Development Board farms in Sri Lanka. Selected cows were genetically screened for SNPs in the exon 08 (n = 153) and 5' upstream (n = 118) regions of the GHR gene using the target sequencing method. The relationships between different genotypes and fertility traits (average calving interval, average number of services per conception, and age at first calving) and milk production-related traits (average ...

Detection of polymorphisms in six genes and their association analysis with litter size in sheep
Anim Biotechnol. 2024 Jan 31:2309954. doi: 10.1080/10495398.2024.2309954. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLitter size in sheep is a complex trait controlled by micro-effective polygenes. APAF1, CLSTN2, CTH, PLCB1, PLCB4, and CHST11 are all involved in mammalian reproduction. However, the effects of these genes on litter size in sheep are still unclear. Therefore, in this study, we used Sequenom MassARRAY® SNP assay technology to type the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) loci of six genes in five sheep breeds. The results showed that most sheep breeds contain three genotypes at each locus. Then, we conducted population...
