Sociotropy and video game playing: Massively multiplayer online role-playing games versus other games
DISCUSSION: MMORPG players reported higher psychological distress than players of other game genres. For all players, sociotropy, rather than autonomy, was found to be a predictor of social anxiety symptoms and IGD intensity. Sociotropy and depression explained IGD intensity only for MMORPG players and not for players of other game genres. The social dimension appears to be more prominent among MMORPG players and could be one of the main personality traits predicting this specific internet gaming disorder. The treatment implications for internet gaming disorder are discussed.PMID:38580529 | DOI:10.1016/j.encep.2024.01.005 ...

Care navigation addresses issues of tele-mental health acceptability and uptake in rural and remote Australian communities
CONCLUSION: Attitudes towards telehealth have changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, however although the need exists, barriers remain to uptake. Telehealth alone is not enough. Coupling telehealth with other supports such as care navigation improves acceptance and uptake.PMID:38574110 | PMC:PMC10994303 | DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0298655 (Source: Rural Remote Health)

Meta-analysis in a digitalized world: A step-by-step primer
Behav Res Methods. 2024 Apr 4. doi: 10.3758/s13428-024-02374-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn recent years, much research and many data sources have become digital. Some advantages of digital or Internet-based research, compared to traditional lab research (e.g., comprehensive data collection and storage, availability of data) are ideal for an improved meta-analyses approach. In the meantime, in meta-analyses research, different types of meta-analyses have been developed to provide research syntheses with accurate quantitative estimations. Due to its rich and unique palette of corrections, we recommend to using the Schmi...

Passive Self-Sustained Thermoelectric Devices Powering the 24 h Wireless Transmission via Radiation-Cooling and Selective Photothermal Conversion
Adv Sci (Weinh). 2024 Apr 4:e2309871. doi: 10.1002/advs.202309871. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe rapid development of the Internet of Things has triggered a huge demand for self-sustained technology that can provide a continuous electricity supply for low-power electronics. Here, a self-sustained power supply solution is demonstrated that can produce a 24 h continuous and unipolar electricity output based on thermoelectric devices by harvesting the environmental temperature difference, which is ingeniously established utilizing radiation cooling and selective photothermal conversion. The developed prototype system can ...
