Sensors, Vol. 24, Pages 2539: A Survey of Techniques for Discovering, Using, and Paying for Third-Party IoT Sensors
alathas The Internet of Things (IoT) includes billions of sensors and actuators (which we refer to as IoT devices) that harvest data from the physical world and send it via the Internet to IoT applications to provide smart IoT services and products. Deploying, managing, and maintaining IoT devices for the exclusive use of an individual IoT application is inefficient and involves significant costs and effort that often outweigh the benefits. On the other hand, enabling large numbers of IoT applications to share available third-party IoT devices, which are deployed and maintained independently by a variety of IoT device ...

A pilot feasibility and acceptability trial of an internet indicated prevention program for perfectionism to reduce eating disorder symptoms in adolescents
CONCLUSION: The results indicate ICBT-P is a feasible and acceptable program for adolescent girls with elevated eating disorder symptoms. Future research is required to examine outcomes in a randomised controlled trial.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level III: Evidence obtained from well-designed cohort or case-control analytic studies.TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: This trial was prospectively registered with Australian and New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry (ACTRN12620000951954P) on 23/09/2020.PMID:38607506 | PMC:PMC11009734 | DOI:10.1007/s40519-024-01654-8 (Source: Eating and weight disorders : EWD)

Acceptance of a Future Gonorrhea Vaccine in a Post-Coronavirus Disease 2019 World: Impact of Type of Recommendation and Changing Levels of Trust in Health Institutions and Authorities
Med Clin North Am. 2023 Nov;107(6S):e19-e37. doi: 10.1016/j.mcna.2023.06.010. Epub 2023 Jun 13.ABSTRACTWidespread uptake of a future gonorrhea vaccine could decrease the burden of disease and limit the spread of antibiotic resistance. However, gonorrhea vaccination will occur in the backdrop of the roll-out of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine, which could have influenced parental perceptions about other, non-COVID-19 vaccines. In an internet-based cross-sectional survey, 74% of parents would get a gonorrhea vaccine for their child, and this was higher among those whose trust in pharmaceutical companies incre...

Internet addiction among MBBS students at a New Delhi medical college: Prevalence and determinants of a silent pandemic
CONCLUSION: IA is a prevalent public health concern among medical students in Delhi, with a majority of participants being addicted to some extent. Females showed a higher proportion of addiction compared to males. Certain internet activities, such as social networking and watching online videos, were significantly associated with IA. The study highlights the need for recognizing IA as a public health concern and further research to understand its impact on the youth. Longitudinal studies are recommended to observe the development and progression of IA over time.PMID:38605765 | PMC:PMC11006023 | DOI:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_124...
