Illinois Grad Certificate
Hello all! I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Illinois Veterinary Science Online Graduate Certificate? How many people are admitted and any feedback on the program? I was without my phone or internet and missed the email of my acceptance- I have reached out desperately asking to still be able to accept my admission and start in the Fall- any knowledge on the program would help! The great pseudo-ender of history: "."
A PSA to all people posting on sdn, you can't delete your post off the internet. To see the historical thread, type "cache:" before the https:// in the URL and you will usually see all of the original posts prior to editing/deletion. I do wonder if there's something that sdn administrators can do to help old sdn users truly scrub their content, but again this is a PSA not to post anything you don't want on the internet. LUCOM vs. ICOM urgent
Hey everyone, I just got two acceptances and I'm trying to decide between the two schools. Here's my current list of pros/cons Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) +Closer to home, family and friends (but not in-state) +More urban environment. Boise is only 15 minutes away. +secular school (I'm a bit worried about how everyone talks about LUCOM on the internet, though I have heard that it's overblown.) Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) +Cheaper ($49k... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC + School list help (4.0 GPA, 519 MCAT, no gap year)
Hello! I am having a hard time creating an MD school list with not many premed resources available to me besides the Internet. I have been consulting MSAR, but I would love to get more insight on "soft characteristics" of schools, what kinds of applicants certain schools tend to accept, what schools would be good for me to apply to based on my application, etc. I am applying with no gap year. Undergrad GPA: 4.00 MCAT: 519 (129/128/132/130) Residency: New Jersey, although I just... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why Are We Pessimists?
Hi follow psychiatrists, I am a neurologist but I was wondering if one of you, deep thinkers, can explain to me why we, as a medical community, alway negative. Personally, I am a glass-half-full-type of a person. However, everyone around me is pessimistic about the future of this career. Quite frankly, it started to rub off on me. Whether it is among my small circle of physician friends or on the internet (SDN and a large physician FB group), everyone is expecting the worst in the future... Affording MedSchool
Not to beat a dead horse because I’m sure this thread exists a ton on the internet but… how do you AFFORD MED SCHOOL… seriously. I just filed the FAFSA and it seems like I get about half of my “fees” covered by sub/unsub. And the other half would be direct PLUS. With tuition for most DO schools being around the $50,000 mark, how do people avoid taking out ~$70,000 a year just to get by (rent, gas, food, bills, etc.)?? I left undergrad with $40,000 in debt so I don’t want to dig my hole even... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

My experience at the San Antonio V.A. AEGD (South Texas)
As someone who was frustrated with how little there is on the internet about AEGD/GPR programs when I was applying, I wanted to “give back” to SDN and touch on my experience at the San Antonio Veterans Affairs AEGD (South Texas V.A.). Skills learned: Plan, place, and restore implants (including full arch/edentulous) Full mouth rehabilitations (restoring every tooth in the mouth, usually at an increased VDO) Same-day CEREC restorations Vertical sinus lifts using Versah burs... Do I qualify for in-state tuition and/or in state admissions preference?
I am making my school list and want to include Florida schools because my father lives in Florida although I grew up in Indiana (divorced parents). I have spent lots of time in Florida visiting my father. I genuinely could see myself moving to Florida and want to live there. I found this link below on several Florida medical school websites: imgur.com Discover the magic of the internet at Imgur, a community powered entertainment destination. Leaving a BS/MD program?
Hey everyone--this may be a lengthier post so I apologize I'll preface by saying that this would be a personal decision I'd make away from the internet, but I was curious if anyone knew somebody who did this or what your general thoughts would be: I just finished my first semester at a BS/MD program, and I'm doing pretty well from an academic standpoint. I should be getting a 4.0 GPA this semester without working too hard, and I've gotten involved in a few clubs including a solid... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
