Point-of-care ultrasound: Usage and accuracy within a Canadian urology division
CONCLUSIONS: POCUS proves accurate and beneficial in urology, particularly for hydronephrosis. Most findings align with the gold standard, and the average exam time is brief. Barriers include time and cost. Further research is necessary to evaluate cost-effectiveness and POCUS's impact on patient outcomes in routine urologic practice.PMID:37931281 | DOI:10.5489/cuaj.8513 (Source: Canadian Urological Association Journal)

Development and Validation of a Preoperative Nomogram for Endoscopic Management Decision Making in Upper Urinary Tract Urothelial Carcinoma
CONCLUSION: Our nomogram ( https://kmur.shinyapps.io/UTUC_URS/ ) accurately predicts LG-NMI UTUC, thereby identifying suitable candidates for EM. Additionally, the model serves as a useful tool for prognostic stratification in patients undergoing EM.PMID:37925655 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14514-z (Source: Ann Oncol)

3D laparoscopic treatment of bladder cancer with pelvic multi-organ invasion: a case report and literature review
CONCLUSION: Minimally invasive surgery is a curative option for patients with bladder cancer with pelvic multi-organ invasion without distant metastasis. Surgeons should strictly control the indications for surgery and warn patients about the occurrence of related post-surgical complications.PMID:37920155 | PMC:PMC10619152 | DOI:10.3389/fonc.2023.1249389 (Source: Cancer Control)

Response to Commentary re Decreased Percent Change in Renal Pelvis Diameter on Diuretic Functional Magnetic Resonance Urography Following Administration of Furosemide May Help Characterize Unilateral Uretero-Pelvic Junction Obstruction
We would like to thank you for your thoughtful commentary and insightful feedback. The comment to the editor you provided summarizes the findings of our study quite nicely. We utilized fMRU (functional Magnetic Resonance Urography) to analyze renal pelvis expansion in patients with congenital hydronephrosis following diuretic administration. The study found that non-obstructive hydronephrosis resulted in nearly double the renal pelvis expansion compared to obstructive hydronephrosis following furosemide administration. Clinical Characteristics of Retroperitoneal Fibrosis Patients at a Tertiary Hospital in Japan
Acta Med Okayama. 2023 Oct;77(5):527-536. doi: 10.18926/AMO/65975.ABSTRACTRetroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF) is a rare cause of hydronephrosis and progressive renal dysfunction with unidentified origin. RPF is categorized into idiopathic RPF with/without immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related disease (IgG4-RD), and secondary RPF. Identifying the underlying cause is challenging and often associated with delayed diagnosis or therapeutic interventions. We investigated RPF's clinical characteristics based on different etiologies and factors that may help distinguish the underlying causes. We analyzed the cases of 49 patients with RPF th...
