Left Ureterocalycostomy with Ileal Interposition for Retroperitoneal Fibrosis in Patient with Erdheim-Chester Disease
Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare progressive non-Langerhans ’ cell histiocytic multisystem disorder with a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations, including infiltrative perinephric with ureteral involvement resulting in hydronephrosis, renal atrophy, and eventual renal failure. Comparison between open and minimally invasive pyeloplasty in infants: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) is the most common cause of congenital hydronephrosis. Techniques such as laparoscopic pyeloplasty (LP) have gained in popularity over recent years. Although some retrospective studies have compared minimally invasive reconstructive techniques with open surgery for treatment of UPJO in infants, results remain controversial due to the small sample size in most of these studies. Long Term Follow-Up Of Patients With Nonrefluxing Hydronephrosis
Conclusions Children with mild HN had an excellent prognosis. Although the majority of the patients with high-grade HN had also a good prognosis, it seems important to closely follow up patients with severe HN, increased kidney size, and accompanying parenchymal thinning. Clinicians should be aware of the increased frequency of UTIs in children with severe HN. BMAL1 inhibits renal fibrosis and renal interstitial inflammation by targeting the ERK1/2/ELK-1/Egr-1 axis
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that BAML1 can target the ERK1/2/ELK-1/Egr-1 axis to suppress fibrotic progression and inflammatory events in obstructed kidneys, thereby inhibiting the development of CKD.PMID:37951191 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2023.111140 (Source: International Immunopharmacology)

Application of ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrostomy in the treatment of a solitary kidney with hydronephrosis due to renal tuberculosis
ConclusionUltrasound-guided percutaneous nephrostomy and nephrostomy tube replacement have a high success rate and few complications, which can improve the renal function of patients. It is of great value for treating a solitary kidney with hydronephrosis caused by renal tuberculosis. (Source: Abdominal Imaging)

A Machine Learning Algorithm Predicting Risk of Dilating VUR Among Infants With Hydronephrosis Using UTD Classification
Urinary Tract Dilation (UTD) classification has been designed to be a more objective grading system to evaluate antenatal and post-natal UTD. Due to unclear association between UTD classifications to specific anomalies such as vesico-ureteral reflux (VUR), management recommendations tend to be subjective. Differences in clinical features between focal and extensive types of cystitis glandularis in patients without a previous history of urinary tract malignancy
CONCLUSIONS: There were significant differences in clinical features between the extensive- and focal-types CG. The extensive type was more often associated with urologic complications. Meanwhile, in the focal type, subsequent urinary tract malignancy might develop during the follow-up period. Thus, thorough initial work-up and careful follow-up is necessary despite the benign nature of CG. Annual surveillance cystoscopy may be appropriate.PMID:37932571 | DOI:10.4111/icu.20230210 (Source: Clinical Prostate Cancer)
