Randomized Phase II Trial of Imiquimod with or without 9-Valent HPV Vaccine versus Observation in Patients with High-grade Pre-neoplastic Cervical Lesions (NCT02864147)
CONCLUSIONS: Although imiquimod induced a higher regression to CIN1 or less and significant increases in CD4/CD8 T cells infiltrating the cervix, it did not meet its prespecified statistical outcome for efficacy. A higher regression rate than expected was observed in the surveillance arm of this prospective trial. Future clinical trials with imiquimod targeting CIN3 patients are warranted.PMID:38592381 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-3639 (Source: Clinical Cancer Research)

HPV-Related Multiphenotypic Sinonasal Carcinoma: A Clinicoradiological Series of 3 Cases With Full Endoscopic Surgical Outcome
Conclusion and Relevance: HMSC represents a newly identified diagnosis that constitutes a significant challenge for both clinicians and pathologists. It is crucial to acknowledge its indolent clinical course and the apparent contradiction between aggressive radiological features and the noninvasive nature of surgical findings. Skull base surgeons should be aware that, despite these complexities, endoscopic treatment is achievable in the majority of cases. This understanding is essential for the effective management of HMSC.PMID:38591784 | DOI:10.1177/01455613241247729 (Source: Ear, Nose and Throat Journal)

Adherence to Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices in diabetes mellitus patients in Saudi Arabia: A multicenter retrospective study
CONCLUSION: In Saudi Arabia, patients with DM showed higher vaccination rates for annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccines compared to other vaccinations such as herpes zoster, Tdap, pneumococcal, and HPV. Factors such as vaccine recommendations provided by family physicians or specialists, the site of care, income level, DM-related hospitalization history, residency site, HbA1c level, and health sector type can significantly influence the vaccination rate in patients with DM.PMID:38591075 | PMC:PMC10999047 | DOI:10.4239/wjd.v15.i3.440 (Source: Herpes)

Diagnostic value of HPV E6/E7 mRNA in screening for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 or worse: A systematic review and meta ‑analysis
Oncol Lett. 2024 Mar 26;27(5):231. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14364. eCollection 2024 May.ABSTRACTHistology is considered the gold standard for diagnosing the pathological progress of cervical cancer development, while cervical intraepithelial neoplasia of grade 2 or worse (CIN2+) is the cutoff for intervention in clinical practice. The diagnostic value of human papillomavirus (HPV) E6/E7 mRNA in screening for CIN2+ has not been systematically summarized. A meta-analysis was conducted as part of the present study conducted to explore the diagnostic value of HPV E6/E7 mRNA in screening for CIN2+, aiming to provide a new marker fo...

Structured Literature Review to Identify Human Papillomavirus ’s Natural History Parameters for Dynamic Population Models of Vaccine Impacts
This study aimed to identify and synthesize data needed to parametrize DTMs on the natural history of HPV infection and related diseases. Parameters describing data of interest were grouped by their anatomical location (genital warts, recurrent respiratory papillomatosis, and cervical, anal, vaginal, vulvar, head and neck, and penile cancers), and natural history (progression, regression, death, cure, recurrence, detection), and were identified through a systematic literature review (SLR) and complementary targeted literature reviews (TLRs). The extracted data were then synthesized by pooling parameter values across public...
