Bio-thermal response during laser haemorrhoidoplasty: an exclusive analytical and numerical approach for theoretical investigation
Lasers Med Sci. 2024 Apr 22;39(1):108. doi: 10.1007/s10103-024-04046-7.ABSTRACTHaemorrhoidal disease is identified by declension of the inflamed and bleeding of vascular tissues of the anal canal. Traditionally, haemorrhoids are associated with chronic constipation and the most common symptoms are irritation in anus region, pain and discomfort, swelling around anus, tender lumps around the anus and rectal bleeding (depending upon the grade of haemorrhoid). Among the several conventional treatment procedures (commonly mentioned as, rubber band litigation, sclerotherapy and electrotherapy), laser haemorrhoidoplasty is an out...

Bio-thermal response during laser haemorrhoidoplasty: an exclusive analytical and numerical approach for theoretical investigation
AbstractHaemorrhoidal disease is identified by declension of the inflamed and bleeding of vascular tissues of the anal canal. Traditionally, haemorrhoids are associated with chronic  constipation and the most common symptoms are irritation in anus region, pain and discomfort, swelling around anus, tender lumps around the anus and rectal bleeding (depending upon the grade of haemorrhoid). Among the several conventional treatment procedures (commonly mentioned as, rubber band li tigation, sclerotherapy and electrotherapy), laser haemorrhoidoplasty is an out-patient and less-invasive laparoscopic procedure. From literature s...

Anal and perianal disorders
Most anal diseases can be diagnosed by a careful history and examination. Management of haemorrhoids involves exclusion of more serious pathology, adequate explanation of the disorder, and dietary and defecatory advice; most do not require additional treatment. Outpatient procedures or surgical intervention can be required for more symptomatic cases. Anal fissures are initially managed with bulking laxatives and non-constipating analgesics; glyceryl trinitrate ointment is standard first-line treatment. (Source: Medicine)

Blowflies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) as potential mechanical vectors of the protozoan cyst and helminthic eggs in Kashmir Himalaya, India
AbstractBlowflies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) are an important group of non-biting flies that are potential mechanical vectors of protozoan and helminthic pathogens. The present study was carried out to isolate and identify protozoan cysts and helminthic eggs transmitted by blowflies. Surveys were carried out at six different sites, viz., butcher shops, fish markets, garbage piles, water bodies, and open vegetation in the Kashmir Himalaya. The flies were collected with the help of a sweeping net and using day-old beef liver as bait from March 2021 to February 2023. A total of 968 blowflies were collected, out of which 83 were...

Comparison of Risk Scores for Predicting Adverse Outcomes in Acute Lower Gastrointestinal Bleeding
CONCLUSIONS: The Oakland and SALGIB scores outperform the other scores in predicting the requirement for blood transfusion in ALGIB patients, but no single prediction tool had the best ability across all outcomes. Novel risk stratification scores with higher performance are needed for better risk stratification in ALGIB.PMID:38550954 | PMC:PMC10978071 | DOI:10.1155/2024/3111414 (Source: Gastroenterology Research and Practice)

Anatomical Anal Stenosis after PPH: Insights from a Retrospective Study and Rat Model
Int J Mol Sci. 2024 Mar 21;25(6):3543. doi: 10.3390/ijms25063543.ABSTRACTHigh-grade hemorrhoids are usually recommended to receive operational treatments. However, these traditional surgeries are associated with severe postoperative pain. A procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids (PPH), a circular staple device, has been developed to improve short-term outcomes, including reducing the severity of postoperative pain. PPH, compared to conventional surgery, has been associated with the incidence of anatomical anal stenosis. The causes of stenosis after PPH are not yet clear. We first analyzed the complications of our patients ...
