Surgical management of rectovaginal fistula after stapled transanal rectal resection for prolapsed hemorrhoids
ConclusionsThe procedure was successful in obtaining anatomical repair and relieving symptoms. This approach represents a valid procedure for the surgical management of this severe condition. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy combined with non-doppler hemorrhoidal artery ligation for the treatment of grade III/IV hemorrhoids: a single centre retrospective study
Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy (MMH) is the most widely used surgical procedure because of its precise curative effect, but it has the disadvantages such as obvious postoperative pain and bleeding. To retros... (Source: BMC Gastroenterology)

Age-dependent relationships among diet, body condition, and < i > Echinococcus multilocularis < /i > infection in urban coyotes
by Scott Sugden, Deanna K. Steckler, Dana Sanderson, Bill Abercrombie, Duncan Abercrombie, M. Alexis Seguin, Kyra Ford, Colleen Cassady St. Clair Urban coyotes (Canis latrans) in North America increasingly exhibit a high prevalence ofEchinococcus multilocularis, a cestode of recent and rising public health concern that uses rodents as intermediate hosts and canids as definitive hosts. However, little is known about the factors that drive the high urban prevalence of this parasite. We hypothesized that the diet of urban coyotes may contribute to their higherE.multilocularis infection prevalence via either (a) greater expos...

Comparison of the efficacy and safety of different surgical procedures for patients with hemorrhoids: a network meta-analysis
ConclusionCurrent evidence suggests that L is best at reducing mean operative time and intraoperative bleeding, T-S is best at reducing mean length of stay, TST has the shortest time to first defecation, STARR is best at reducing recurrence rates, PPH is best at reducing postoperative anal stricture, and F is best at reducing postoperative pain after 24  h. Construction and validation of a risk prediction model for perianal infection in patients with haematological malignancies during chemotherapy: a prospective study in a tertiary hospital in China
Conclusions The risk prediction model, including a history of perianal infection, history of haemorrhoids, constipation and duration of diarrhoea ≥3 days of perianal infection in patients with haematological malignancies during chemotherapy, has good prediction reliability and can be helpful in guiding clinical medical staff in screening and early intervention of high-risk groups. Anorectal malignant mucosal melanoma
Ghana Med J. 2022 Dec;56(4):331-335. doi: 10.4314/gmj.v56i4.12.ABSTRACTAnorectal mucosal melanoma (AMM) is a rare, aggressive malignancy. The symptoms of AMM mimic common benign conditions in the anus, such as haemorrhoids; hence diagnosis is often made late, a third of patients having metastasis at first presentation. Surgical resection remains the standard of treatment, and adjuvant therapy is varied, including immunotherapy, brachytherapy, and chemotherapy. The prognosis is poor, with a 5-year survival of 20%. A 65year old woman presented with a five-year history of symptoms suggestive of haemorrhoids and was diagnosed ...
