Question for those of you who have worked in community mental health centers
How do you prepare yourself for a role where you will be treating clients with such a large range of presenting issues? I am hoping to continue to strengthen my therapy skills, and I figured I would ask you (community mental health care providers) as you all are able to treat so many different issues. Thanks! Politics debate
Health care is in shambles. And pharmacy more than anything will be affected by it due to factors such as saturation. From job safety perspective, which party winning will benefit us the most? Socialist medicine ie. Medicare for all, or Trump removing Obama care altogether? Or either way, we are - - - -ed ??? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Geographic arbitrage
Is this a win win win for the patient, surgeon and employer? Cost to the payor is 12k vs 30k and the patient gets 5k cash back. Surgeon gets more up front and apparently doesn’t need to provide follow up care. Implant cost is lower. A Mexican Hospital, an American Surgeon, and a $5,000 Check (Yes, a Check) A novel twist on medical tourism to avoid the high cost of U.S. health care saves an employer money and even earns the patient a bonus. www.google.com (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Likelihood of Contracting Life Long Diseases from Healthcare Work
How often do healthcare workers contract lifelong infectious diseases from working in health care. I'm talking about things like hepatitis and HIV. I recently learned that a friend that I'm very close to has one of these diseases and it makes me scared to hug them in case they might have tiny open sores. Etc. Is this worry reasonable in medicine? I read a thread a while back of surgeons putting themselves in harm's way often when blood splatters from operations (Source: Student Doctor Network)

When is a good time to travel?
Hello all, I am graduating May 2019 and am planning on applying to medical school in June 2019. During my gap year, I will be working as a scribe at a private practice and continuing to volunteer at a community health care center. Both places are very flexible with scheduling and allow me to take vacation time. Thus, I would like to travel to Vietnam for 3 weeks to 1 month to visit my relatives and volunteer, but I'm not sure when is the best period of time to travel so that I won't miss... PA school is too far and expensive, NP is better option?
I’m 23 years old male and I’m looking to start working in the health care field as soon as possible. The PA schools are too far from me(45- 1hr 30 min drive) and cost more money to attend. i should also mention one more thing. I use to be a nursing student but dropped out the first semester because honestly, I barely studied( partied too much every weekend). I’m looking to start working ASAP and be in a career that has a high salary potential. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NY Times Article: Doctors And Nurses Are Ethical, Hospital Administrators Exploit That To Make Money
Not sure if anyone posted this yet, but the author nails it on the head that the business of health care depends on exploiting the food will and ethics of physician and nurses. The only thing I disagree with is that hospital administrators do it inadvertently. I think they are very smart, know exactly what they are doing and do it willfully and calculatingly. I think they view physician good will ethical commitment to their patients as a resource like any other, that can be manipulated to...
