Treating Disease Is No Substitute for Caring for the Ill
A good essay from Wall Street Journal: Treating Disease Is No Substitute for Caring for the Ill America’s health-care system focuses on curing acute problems but does far too little to support patients with chronic maladies www.wsj.com I still sometimes wake in terror, haunted by the nightmare of an episode almost 15 years ago when my wife Joan, who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease, accidentally locked herself in our bathroom. Not only had the disease robbed Joan of her rea...

Quitting gap year job, do I need to notify schools? (post-acceptance)
I received my first acceptance several weeks ago. I think my gap year job played a role, because it was discussed extensively during my interview (I work with a government welfare program). On my application, I said I would work at this position through June 2020, but an opportunity with higher pay and more desired work (in the health care setting) has come up. I’m also becoming very unhappy at my current job for several reasons that I won’t go into. My question is- will the schools that... Quitting gap year job, do I need to notify schools? Deny applicants who object to performing abortions and physician assisted suicide?
Medical schools should deny applicants who object to provide abortion, assisted death: bioethicist Udo Schuklenk says screening out would-be doctors who would object to providing health care on conscience grounds would avoid debates over things like Alberta's Bill 207. globalnews.ca this seems crazy to me... anyone else think this is crazy? I’m all about letting people get the healthcare they want, but forcing me to do an elective procedure seems out of line. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Post mastectomy XRT after distant Mantle (?) Radiation - Anyone ever done this.
Have a lady 30+ years out from Hodgkins treatment for which, in part. she received XRT to somewhere above the diaphragm. Of course this was out of state and she doesn't know what health care system it was with, doesn't know how many weeks, etc,... so no records. No dose. No field review. No nothing. Tattoo is between clavicular heads. Not sure what to make of that. Maybe a match line. I'm just assuming she got 45 Gy to mantle though. Now she's post mastectomy with a 5 cm invasive ductal... Private practice
I've read much about private practices having a more difficult time keeping up with regulations, red tape, and other hindrances. 1) Is it currently a viable model in general? 2) Under socialized health care and a socialist government, will it be at all possible? Could there be such a thing as black market medicine? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hello All. I have graduated last year top of my class, currently doing masters in health care innovation in ASU, my step1 score is 260 and step2 CK is 267, I'm a non-US IMG applying for Family Medicine. So far, I've only got 1 interview, which is very surprising to me, I started to get worried and think what did I do wrong. My US clinical experience was in Emergency Medicine, could that be a problem? I have applied to a total of 94 programs, what would you advice me to do? Should I follow... My dream school interview didn't go well - is there still hope?
This is sort of a long post about a recent interview I had at my top choice school. One of my faculty interviews did not go well, and I don't know if it was me or just my interviewer's style. It felt like the whole time he was trying to put me down, and I just tried my best to keep my cool. Here are some things that happened during my interview. Are my chances shot? 1. My interviewer asked, "what do you think about the current state of health care in america/medicare for all". I had read... My dream school interview didn't go well - is there still hope? WSJ: New “Woke” Medical Schools...
Anyone seeing this trend in pain fellowships? Take Two Aspirin and Call Me by My Pronouns At ‘woke’ medical schools, curricula are increasingly focused on social justice rather than treating illness.
