ASPF statement on medical errors and criminal prosecution
I'm glad they said something. I agree with their points. Position Statement on Criminalization of Medical Error and Call for Action to Prevent Patient Harm from Error Preventable harm from the systems of care intended to improve health continues to occur at an unacceptable rate in the United States. Our hearts go out to patients, families, and caregivers who have suffered preventable harm related to health care... www.apsf.org (Source: Student Doctor Network)

disposable physicians
This is a bit disturbing. Sad that a physician completing 12 years of education can be considered a cog in a machine and manipulated this way by people who only went to school for 4-6 years and likely underperformed academically compared to most physicians. What T20 schools would be a good match for my narrative?
I'm a first-gen, disadvantaged White male from CA with a 3.88/521. My app is very heavily focused on preventative health care and mentorship for low-income communities through a lens of research (i.e. gap year w/ AmeriCorps, 1200+ research hours w/ 2 posters + very very solid PI LOR, 1100+ paid clinical hours as a MA and a few somewhat unique leadership roles totaling around 500 hours.) I also have experiencee (150+ hours) volunteering in clinics in the North African country I'm from, and a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

New article on psychiatric care by state
I just got my April 2022 edition of the ridiculously sized Psychiatric Times journal, and the headline article cites this following article from Healthcare insider: Best and Worst States for Mental Healthcare - HealthCareInsider.com It ranks states on measures of cost, access, and the quality of mental health care. You can all certainly comment on that if you want. However, my reason for posting this is that the author, Stephanie Horan, claims that my state of NJ has the highest... Non Trad Preparing for Reapp, List Advice
Hello! I've heard from all of my schools this cycle and I'm sitting on 1 interview ---> 1 waitlist preparing to reapply MD & possibly add DO. Please hit me with any advice about my reapp and school list. Major mistakes I made this cycle: - Not applying broadly. I effectively applied to my state school (target school where I'm now waitlisted) and 10 huge reach schools. - I also failed to demonstrate sufficient recent health care exposure/clinical experience and failed to include relevant... Physician LOR question
Hi guys so I have a question that I have been trying to get opinions on. I have been unable to get any shadowing in person as most of the clinics and hospitals around me are part of a larger health care system which does not currently allow in person shadowing. As a result, I am unsure how I will obtain a physician letter that some schools require. I am working as a scribe but I scribe for a PA although I am in the process of trying to move around to see if I can be placed with a physician... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
