Hey everyone, I received a BA degree and immediately entered a pre med post bac program after graduation. I'm doing well academically, but I'm having a difficult time approaching the EC aspect of the application. Anyway, I started volunteering at a large hospital, but they were very militant about enforcing shifts, keeping a close eye on volunteers, and keeping us far away from most of the patients. They also wanted an 8 hour per week commitment which cut into a lot of study/work time.... Best way to approach health care experience as a non traditional? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is this a problem?
I got my wisdom teeth pulled today and holy **** did it suck. I almost wanted to abandon the thought of pursuing dentistry. The entire time I was thinking "oh my god I could never do this to save my life" as the dentist pried and pulled with considerable force. I have a huge fear of hurting people and I think this is going to inhibit my ability to succeed in any health-care profession where such intense procedures with conscious patients is required. I have the same problem during my EMT... Is this a problem? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

1st interview of 5 on Monday UT San Antonio. Any last minute advice?
I have spent many hours researching the school/city, and made outlines for over 50 most common/popular questions. These outlines have made it easy for me to keep a mental checklist/outline to prevent me from going blank during the interview. I have been practicing mock interview with multiple health care professionals and they all think, I'm going to nail the interview. Butttt I still have never attended a dental interview, so my mind is running with the WHAT IF factors. -___- My... 1st interview of 5 on Monday UT San Antonio. Any last minute advice? A psychiatrist heath administrator?
I'm an IMG currently taking my steps. I love Psychiatry and I'm sure it's where i want to be. But i also have interest in Health Policies and being involved in it, especially in relation to mental health which i feel keeps getting the shorter end of the stick for the psychiatrist and the patient and that better structures can be put in place for optimal mental health care delivery. This has made me strongly consider an MPH in Health Policy. Now here's my question: Can one combine practice... A psychiatrist heath administrator? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
