Failing out of DO... now what?
So, after successfully completing all coursework and about a semester of rotations, I cannot seem to pass my COMLEX-1 (I have repeatedly gotten just a few points below 400)... and have now withdrawn/been dismissed from my school. I'm very disappointed, but also a bit relieved (between burnout and migraines, life's been pretty crappy over the last few years)... though I am very fortunate to have minimal debt and a supportive spouse. So, that's what it is. I was wondering if anyone out... Failing out of DO... now what? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

38 yo male with cervicalgia and headaches status post ACDF C4-C5; C5-C6 cervical fusion X 2. PCP stopped opioid RX'ing "due to changes in the law." Wife reports that patient is burning through 1 bottle of Aleve every 3 days (8-12 tablets per day). Botox done elsewhere not effective. Occ NB's done elsewhere not effective. Ditto for dryineedling, acupuncture, Reiki, TPI's. Previously tolerant to oxy 60 mg QD and Soma TID. What's your next move? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why the heck is medical school so competitive to get into?
So just a background, I am a nontrad student who applied this cycle. I've had 6 DO interviews, 2 MD interviews, and a few acceptances. I've been working full time at a derm clinic. And from my experience, I honestly feel that medicine is just another job. You deal with unhappy people, you deal with bull crap, you deal with insurance, prior authorizations, headaches, extremely incompetent people, etc. I also feel patients have the sense that you owe them a lot because they are paying you, or... Family Physician looking for Urgent Care / Fast Track / other work in the ER
Hey folks I would like to work in the Fast Track in the ER, love working with other colleagues (one reason I want to work in the ER rather than urgent care on my own), also want to see higher acuity patients and have the ER Doc's in case I can want to consult them (level 3 patients like headaches, abdo pain, chest pain etc ) It is hard to find these jobs in databases (practice match etc), I have looked under jobs for Family Docs and ER physicians and I only got 1 hit that was out of date... NBME 16 the inhaled glue question
Hello, I am trying to find the explanation for one question on the nbme but I cannot. Here it is: 14-year old boy has headaches for 2 months. Headaches are described as a bilateral aching in the temples. His mother says that "he has not been himself" for the last few months. He seems more confused, often foretting names, dates and places and he is clumsy with frequent falls. His school performance also has decline over the past quarter. Physical shows a broad-based ataxic gait. He is... NBME 16 the inhaled glue question (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Indication for LP?
Wanted to get the input from a few other neurologists. Have a patient with headaches, neck pain, tinnitus, tremors, hallucinations and multiple falls sent to me for a cervical ESI. Cervical MRI notable for multilevel cervical stenosis. Neurosurgery does not want to operate due to patient's other co-morbidities. Psych attributing hallucinations to grieving process as patients dtr recently died. Neurology obtained a brain MRI, head CT and EEG which were unrevealing and attributed his... Indication for LP? Doctor and Pt unhappy when asked about CII regimen
Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice on how to approach CII scripts to make things less stress for prescribers, patients, and myself. I print out PDMP for every CII prescription and fill as they're not early, same physician, same pharmacy, make sense (IR + ER), and low quantity (under #120 preferably but I've filled up to #240). So ~80% of the prescriptions I get are filled with no issue, but the other ~20% are a headache to deal with. I am reluctant to turn away scripts that doesn't...
