Green synthesis of MnO < sub > 2 < /sub > nanoparticles from Psidium guajava leaf extract: Morphological characterization, photocatalytic and DNA/BSA interaction studies
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Dec 17:128869. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.128869. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this work, a simple, efficient and eco-friendly green synthesis of manganese dioxide nanoparticles (MnO2NPs) by Psidium guajava leaf extract was described. Fourier-Transform infrared spectra results revealed that involvement of the plant extract functional groups in the formation of MnO2NPs. The UV-vis absorption spectra of the synthesized MnO2NPs exhibited absorption peaks at 374 nm, which were attributed to the band gap of the MnO2NPs. Crystal phase identification of the MnO2NPs were characterized by X-ray diffr...

Antibiofilm and anti-quorum sensing activity of < i > Psidium guajava < /i > L. leaf extract: < i > In vitro < /i > and < i > in silico < /i > approach
In this study, we evaluated the antibacterial, anti-quorum sensing, and anti-biofilm activities ofPsidium guajava L. methanolic leaf extracts (PGME). Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs) of PGME were determined as 500 μg/ml forC.violaceum and 1000 μg/ml forP.aeruginosa PAO1. Significantly, even at sub-MIC concentrations, PGME exhibited noteworthy anti-quorum sensing properties, as evidenced by concentration-dependent inhibition of pigment production inC.violaceum 12742. Furthermore, PGME effectively suppressed quorum-sensing controlled virulence factors inP.aeruginosa PAO1, including biofilm formation, pyoverdin, pyo...

Selenium-rich food potentially useful to control mercury levels among Afro-Colombians: Towards an intercultural intervention
CONCLUSION: It is proposed that the banana juice, the pineapple colada, the borojó (Borojoa patinoi) sorbet, the cucas, and the enyucado are basic elements for a culturally acceptable intervention.PMID:38109141 | DOI:10.7705/biomedica.6981 (Source: Biomedica : Revista del Instituto Nacional de Salud)
