Cross preferences and genetic diversity of Psidium interspecific hybrids through morphoagronomic traits and resistance to Meloidogyne enterolobii
This study aimed to evaluate the female parent preference and genetic diversity of Psidium interspecific hybrids using morphoagronomic traits and resistance to M. enterolobii. There were evaluated cross successes and germination from crosses between accesses of P. cattleyanum, P. guineense and P. guajava and the genetic diversity by Ward-MLM method of hybrids according to descriptors developed for the genus. Crosses were more successful when P. cattleyanum was the female parent. Germination was more successful in crosses involving P. cattleyanum and P. guajava. Four groups were formed. The group IV clustered the most resis...

Morphology of 'Crioula' guava seedlings under irrigation with increasing salinity water and nitrogen/potassium fertilization
Braz J Biol. 2023 Sep 15;83:e275322. doi: 10.1590/1519-6984.275322. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTSeveral studies have been conducted evaluating the management of fertilizers as strategies to mitigate the deleterious effects of salt stress, so the objective of this work was to evaluate the quality of 'Crioula' guava seedlings under irrigation with water of different salinity levels and fertilized with combinations of nitrogen and potassium. The experiment was performed in a protected (screened) environment using a randomized block design and analyzed in a 5 × 4 factorial scheme, with four replicates, with the plot formed by tw...

Recent chemical synthesis of plant polysaccharides
Curr Opin Chem Biol. 2023 Sep 14;77:102387. doi: 10.1016/j.cbpa.2023.102387. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHere, chemical syntheses of long, branched and complex glycans over 10-mer from plants are summarized, which highlights amylopectin 20-mer from starch, 17-mer from carthamus tinctorius, α-glucan 30-mer from Longan, 19-mer from psidium guajava and 11-mer from dendrobium huoshanense. The glycans assembly strategies, protecting groups utilization and glycosylation methods discussed here will inspire the efficient synthesis of diverse complex glycans with many 1,2-cis glycosidic linkages.PMID:37716049 | DOI:10.1016/j.cbp...
