Comparison of the analytical sensitivity of COVID-19 rapid antigen tests in Australia and Canada
Talanta. 2024 Apr 23;275:126147. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.126147. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRapid testing has become an indispensable strategy to identify the most infectious individuals and prevent the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in vulnerable populations. As such, COVID-19 rapid antigen tests (RATs) are being manufactured faster than ever yet lack relevant comparative analyses required to inform on absolute analytical sensitivity and performance, limiting end-user ability to accurately compare brands for decision making. To date, more than 1000 different COVID-19 RATs are commercially available in the world, most o...

Impact of pollution prevention practices and Green Environmental practices on sustainable performance: Empirical evidence from Chinese SMEs
This study primarily looks into the factors that influence the adoption of green innovations by analysing the growth paths of Chinese SMEs operating in highly polluting industries over a longer time frame than five years. Artificial Intelligence is a valuable tool for solving the issues of ecological degradation. A quantitative method has been implemented for the Chinese companies' samples from the deeply polluting industries for more than five years. The findings of this paper advise that the average board size, the governing board meetings, and organisational performance are positively connected with the Chinese firms' e...

Do young women have an accurate perception about their pelvic floor muscle contraction? An agreement study Self-perception and physical exam of the pelvic muscles contraction
Many women have difficulty in activating the pelvic floor muscles (PFM). This is a concerning factor for health professionals and public government institutions, as an unhealthy PFM could be associated with the presence of PFM dysfunctions. Therefore, the aim of the study was to analyze the agreement between the perception of young women about their PFM contraction and the results of a physical assessment, according to the strength, endurance, and contraction repetitions. The Role of Medicinal Cannabis as an Emerging Therapy for Opioid Use Disorder
AbstractThis narrative review explores current insights into the potential use of medicinal cannabis-related products as an emerging therapy for opioid use disorder in the landscape of increasing knowledge about medicinal cannabis-based products, commercialisation and global legalisation. Preclinical studies have provided preliminary insight into the putative neurobiological mechanisms that underpin the potential for medicinal cannabis to be considered a therapeutic in opioid use disorder and addiction. With the progressive legalisation of cannabis in many jurisdictions worldwide, contemporary research has highlighted furt...

Access to Oncology Medicines in Canada: Consensus Forum for Recommendations for Improvement
Curr Oncol. 2024 Mar 29;31(4):1803-1816. doi: 10.3390/curroncol31040136.ABSTRACTPatient access to new oncology drugs in Canada is only possible after navigating multiple sequential systemic checkpoints for national regulatory approval, health technology assessment (HTA) and collective government price negotiation. These steps delay access and prevent health care providers from being able to prescribe optimal therapy. Eighteen Canadian oncology clinicians from the medicine, nursing and pharmacy professions met to develop consensus recommendations for defining reasonable government performance standards around process and ti...

COVID-19 Vaccination Site Accessibility, United States, December 11, 2020-March 29, 2022
Emerg Infect Dis. 2024 May;30(5):947-955. doi: 10.3201/eid3005.230357.ABSTRACTDuring December 11, 2020-March 29, 2022, the US government delivered ≈700 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to vaccination sites, resulting in vaccination of ≈75% of US adults during that period. We evaluated accessibility of vaccination sites. Sites were accessible by walking within 15 minutes by 46.6% of persons, 30 minutes by 74.8%, 45 minutes by 82.8%, and 60 minutes by 86.7%. When limited to populations in counties with high social vulnerability, accessibility by walking was 55.3%, 81.1%, 86.7%, and 89.4%, respectively. By driving, lowes...
