Giant exophytic gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) causing gastric outlet obstruction: case report and review of literature
We present the case of a middle-aged patient diagnosed with a giant gastric GIST, which presented for intermittent gastric outlet obstruction symptoms, and emphasize the major imagistic, histopathological, and therapeutic challenges that may be encountered. There are only several cases of gastric exophytic gastric GIST provoking intermittent gastric outlet obstruction. Tumor resection should be adapted to every patient's status, focused on en bloc extraction, with preservation of invaded organs as much as possible.PMID:38184841 | PMC:PMC10863695 | DOI:10.47162/RJME.64.4.17 (Source: Romanian Journal of Morphology and Embryology)

Genomic profiling in GIST: Implications in clinical outcome and future challenges
Neoplasia. 2024 Jan 5;48:100959. doi: 10.1016/j.neo.2023.100959. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST) are the most frequent mesenchymal neoplasia of the digestive tract. Genomic alterations in KIT, PDFGRA, SDH, and BRAF genes are essential in GIST oncogenesis. Therefore, the mutations in these genes have demonstrated clinical implications. Tumors with deletions in KIT-exon 11 or duplications in exon 9 are associated with a worse prognosis. In contrast, KIT-exon 11 substitutions and duplications are associated with a better clinical outcome. Moreover, mutations in Kit exon 9 and 11 are action...

TRIM21/USP15 balances ACSL4 stability and the imatinib resistance of gastrointestinal stromal tumors
CONCLUSION: These findings demonstrate that the TRIM21 and USP15 control ACSL4 stability to maintain the IM sensitive/resistant status of GIST.PMID:38182686 | DOI:10.1038/s41416-023-02562-x (Source: Cancer Control)

Colonic gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) presenting with colocolonic intussusception: A rare case report
Can Vet J. 2024 Jan;65(1):25-28.ABSTRACTAn 8-year-old spayed female British bulldog was presented with vomiting, hyporexia, and large-bowel diarrhea. Abdominal ultrasound revealed a focal colonic mass with an intussusception located immediately oral to the mass. The intussusception encompassed the ascending and transverse colon and was non-reducible. Colonic resection and anastomosis were completed to include the intussusception and colonic mass. Histopathological examination of the mass demonstrated a spindle cell neoplasm arising within the muscular wall of the intussuscepted segment that obliterated normal architecture....
