Diversity and Inclusion in Mental Health: A Collaborative Online International Learning Experience
The objectives of the COIL experience were to identify and discuss changes in thinking in four areas: eugenics and cultural bias, cultural bias in research, culture and mental illness, and institutional and care policies. Groups of students created educational posters about diversity and inclusion in mental health that were presented at a virtual mini conference to which other students and faculty at the participating universities were invited.PMID:37920981 | DOI:10.1177/10784535231211671 (Source: Creative Nursing)

Comparative genome analysis of colistin-resistant < i > Escherichia coli < /i > harboring < i > mcr < /i > isolated from rural community residents in Ecuador and Vietnam
by Hoa Thi Thanh Hoang, Mayumi Yamamoto, Manuel Calvopina, Carlos Bastidas-Caldes, Diep Thi Khong, Thang Nam Nguyen, Ryuji Kawahara, Takahiro Yamaguchi, Yoshimasa Yamamoto The spread of colistin-resistant bacteria among rural community residents of low- and middle-income countries is a major threat to community health. Although the mechanism of the spread of colistin-resistant bacteria in communities is unknown, geographic and regional characteristics may influence it. To elucidate the spread mechanism of colistin-resistant bacteria, we analyzed the genomes of colistin-resistantEscherichia coli isolated from Vietnam and E...

Retrospective analysis of outcomes for pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia in South American centers
This study retrospectively reviewed demographic, biological, and clinical parameters of children under 18 years of age with newly diagnosed ALL presenting between 2013-2017 across five pediatric centers in 4 countries in South America. Survival analyses were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method.ResultsAcross the five centers, 752 patients were analyzed (Bolivia [N=9], Ecuador [N=221], Paraguay [N=197], Peru [N=325]) and 92.1% (n=690) patients were diagnosed with B-cell and 7.5% (n= 56) with T-cell ALL. The median age was 5.5 years old (IQR 7.29). At diagnosis, 47.8% of patients were categorized as standard and 51.9% as ...

New Primers for Detection and Differentiation between < em > Leishmania viannia < /em > and < em > L. leishmania < /em > Subgenera by Polymerase Chain Reaction
CONCLUSION: The new primers targeting different two genes and standardized in a PCR assay could identified and differentiated Leishmania parasites at subgenus level. This protocol could be used for Leishmania genus identification and diagnosis at the subgenus level and for determining the parasite's geographical distribution where different Leishmania subgenera are found in the same area.PMID:37886249 | PMC:PMC10597875 | DOI:10.18502/ijpa.v18i3.13758 (Source: Iranian Journal of Parasitology)
