Ectropion following topical 5-fluorouracil treatment
We present a case of a 78-year-old woman who developed unilateral ectropion after topical 5-fluorouracil application. This case highlights the importance of clear patient instruction while prescribing topical 5-fluorouracil. Patients should be advised to wash their hands thoroughly after application. We also stress the importance of counseling patients to keep the medication away from the orbital rim, eye, and eyelid.PMID:36876262 | PMC:PMC9980511 | DOI:10.1080/08998280.2023.2165296 (Source: Baylor University Medical Center Proceedings)

Overlap between EEC and AEC syndrome and immunodeficiency in a preterm infant with a TP63 variant
Eur J Med Genet. 2023 Feb 28:104735. doi: 10.1016/j.ejmg.2023.104735. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPathogenic variants in the transcription factor TP63 gene cause a variety of clinical phenotypes, such as ectrodactyly-ectodermal dysplasia-clefting (EEC) syndrome and ankyloblepharon-ectodermal dysplasia-clefting (AEC) syndrome. Historically, TP63-related phenotypes have been divided into several syndromes based on both the clinical presentation and location of the pathogenic variant on the TP63 gene. This division is complicated by significant overlap between syndromes. Here we describe a patient with clinical characterist...

A novel surgical correction technique of involutional entropion by combined triangular tarsectomy, orbicularis muscle tightening and inferior retractor plication
CONCLUSION: Combined procedures with addressing the horizontal tightening was associated with a higher success rate and a lower recurrence rate.PMID:36843534 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231159693 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Localized linear IgA bullous dermatosis and a recurrent cicatricial ectropion of the eyelid: A case report of a sixteen-year follow-up
Brigita Drnovsek-Olup, Katja MatovićIndian Journal of Dermatology 2022 67(6):835-835 Cicatrizing ectropion of the eyelid is an uncommon condition, possibly resulting in significant ocular morbidity. A potential cause can be a systemic disease, including autoimmune blistering disease (ABD). We herein report a case with a sixteen-year follow-up of a patient with a chronic cicatrizing unilateral ectropion caused by linear IgA bullous dermatosis (LABD). LABD is an ABD, characterized by the accumulation of IgA anti-basement membrane autoantibodies. It has a varied presentation; however, localized or ophthalmic mani...

Correction of Involutional Entropion by Excising Redundant Skin and Pretarsal Orbicularis Muscle without Vertical and Horizontal Tarsal Fixation
CONCLUSIONS: Excision of only redundant skin and the pretarsal orbicularis muscle, without capsulopalpebral fascia reattachment or horizontal lid laxity correction, is a simple surgery for correcting involutional entropion.PMID:36796346 | DOI:10.3341/kjo.2022.0138 (Source: Korean Journal of Ophthalmology : KJO)

Anterior versus posterior retractor reinsertion with a lateral tarsal strip for involutional entropion repair: A multicentric experience
CONCLUSION: The anterior or posterior approach to reinsert lower eyelid retractors to tarsal plate in addition to LTS to correct LEIE can provide a similar outcome. However, the anterior approach achieves a slightly higher success rate with fewer recurrences but with a higher overcorrection rate.PMID:36760116 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231155665 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Argon laser trabeculoplasty for congenital ectropion uveae: Case report and review of the literature
Eur J Ophthalmol. 2023 Feb 7:11206721231156501. doi: 10.1177/11206721231156501. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 18-year-old woman with unilateral glaucoma secondary to congenital ectropion uveae (CEU) in the right eye, without other systemic and ocular associations. Intraocular pressure (IOP) was uncontrolled under topical therapy. The visual field (VF) was within normal limits; retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness, as evaluated by Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), was reduced. The patient refused surgical intervention. After evaluation of the iridocorneal angle, ALT was performed as follows: 95 spots were applied ...
