Pediatric Ocular Trauma during Eid Festivities in Yemen.
CONCLUSIONS: The causes of ocular injuries are diverse and tend to vary by geographical area. In particular, their incidence can increase during holidays, especially long ones. Usually, eye injuries with toy guns result in significant trauma that requires medical intervention and hospitalization with potential long-term eye complications. Public health workers need to conduct health education program to alert parents and health professionals to the danger of such toys. Chemokine Expression during Adipogenesis and Inflammation in Orbital Fibroblasts from Patients with Graves' Orbitopathy.
In this study, we investigated the expressions of chemokines and their receptors during adipogenesis and inflammation in primary cultured orbital fibroblasts from patients with GO. METHODS: The messenger RNA (mRNA) expression levels of chemokines were compared between GO (n = 6) and non-GO (n = 5) orbital tissues by real-time polymerase chain reaction. After adipogenesis was induced in primary cultured orbital fibroblasts from patients with GO (n =5) and following stimulation with interleukin (IL)-1β and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, the mRNA expression levels of chemokines and their receptors were analyzed...

Comparison of Corneal Wavefront-optimized and Wavefront-guided Alcohol-assisted Photorefractive Keratectomy Using Schwind Amaris 750S Laser for Myopia.
CONCLUSIONS: Both WFO and WFG PRK using a Schwind Amaris 750S laser for low to moderate myopia were safe and effective at improving visual and refractive outcomes. However, WFG PRK induced fewer spherical aberrations than WFO PRK and may be more advantageous for eyes with high HOA root mean square or spherical aberration. Effect of Minoxidil on Trabecular Outflow via the Paracellular Pathway.
Authors: Kang HG, Kim JW Abstract PURPOSE: To investigate the pathway and effects of minoxidil on trabecular outflow in cultured human trabecular meshwork (TM) cells. METHODS: After exposing primarily cultured TM cells to 0, 10, 50, or 100 μM minoxidil sulfate (MS), trabecular outflow was assessed by measuring TM cell monolayer permeability to carboxyfluorescein and transepithelial electrical resistance. To assess the pathway of permeability changes, caveolin-1, occludin, and claudin-5 levels were measured via western blot. Clinical Results of Various Treatments for Retinal Capillary Hemangioma.
CONCLUSIONS: Because RCHs vary in size, the degree of inflammation, and symptoms, this disorder should be actively treated on a case-by-case basis. Fluorescein angiography should be used periodically to determine recurrence of the tumor or inflammation, and the appropriate treatment should be repeated as necessary. Moreover, regular systemic screening tests for von Hippel-Lindau disease should be performed in RCH patients to ensure that they have no abnormalities other than in the eye.
