Staged endovascular recanalization for symptomatic atherosclerotic non-acutely occluded internal carotid artery
CONCLUSIONS: This retrospective study found that staged endovascular recanalization for symptomatic atherosclerotic NAOICA may be feasible with an acceptable technical success rate and a low complication rate in the selected candidates.PMID:36883208 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231162666 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Prophylactic relining for bridging stent compression after thoracoabdominal endovascular aneurysm repair: Myth or reality?
CONCLUSIONS: Directional branch compression is a frequent complication during BEVAR; however, in this case, it spontaneously resolved after 6 months, without the need for secondary adjunctive procedures. Further studies on predictor factors for BSG related adverse events and regarding spontaneous delayed BSGs' expansion mechanisms are needed.PMID:36867438 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231161860 (Source: Vascular)

Revascularization methods in patients with carotid stenosis and concomitant coronary heart disease
Folia Med (Plovdiv). 2023 Feb 28;65(1):7-15. doi: 10.3897/folmed.65.e69913.ABSTRACTA major feature of the atherosclerotic process is its systemic and progressive character. The plaque pathogenetic mechanisms, morphology, evolution, and predilection site (bifurcation zones) determine the frequent coincidence of carotid and coronary atherosclerosis in the same patient. The present overview chronologically traces the history, effectiveness, and benefit of surgical and continuously improving interventional carotid revascularization. It thereby analyzes the indications, results, and complications based on a number of randomized ...

Acute injury to the mouse carotid artery provokes a distinct healing response
Front Physiol. 2023 Feb 7;14:1125864. doi: 10.3389/fphys.2023.1125864. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTTreatment of vascular stenosis with angioplasty results in acute vascular damage, which may lead to restenosis. Owing to the highly complex cellularity of blood vessels, the healing response following this damage is incompletely understood. To gain further insight into this process, scRNA-seq of mouse carotid tissue after wire injury was performed. Stages of acute inflammation, resolution and remodeling were recapitulated in these data. To identify cell types which give rise to neointima, analyses focused on smooth muscle cell a...
