Should I quit law school to go into medicine for the money?
Hello everyone, I've been thinking lately about dropping out of law school and going into medicine instead, and I would like to know if it's worth making the jump. My school is in the top 25, where I received a full-ride scholarship thanks to my academic performance. In other words, no debt. I don't like school very much. However, my internships have been very fruitful, and it's a profession I'm willing to do with all my heart. I certainly enjoy the work environment and all that the... OU-HCOM (Cleveland) vs. NEOMED
Hello, I need help choosing between these two schools and before you instantly write the MD program (NEOMED), I would like you to consider OU-HCOM’s Cleveland campus pros because they are unique for a DO program. I am currently considering pediatric cardiology or pediatric gastroenterology as my most likely choices after medical school. Both have a 3 year IM(pediatric) residency followed by a 3 year fellowship. OU-HCOM (Cleveland) Pros: Partnership with the Cleveland Clinic (second... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Interventional Cardiology vs. General Surgery
I am a 3rd year medical student, in love with both General Surgery and Interventional Cardiology. These have been my favorite clerkships, by far. I love the thought of being able to immediately fix problems and I love doing things with my hands. I don't love clinic, but I enjoyed surgery clinic more than cardio clinic. I would still like to have some outpatient practice time, but definitely more inpatient. In cardio, I loved the Cath lab and being able to see patients on all floors of... Concentrated Shadowing / Diversity of Shadowing / premed grunt
Hello SDN, I'm back with another set of questions. I always appreciate any and all help and responses! 1. For shadowing experience, is it okay if a lot of my shadowing experiences are concentrated in my freshman/early sophomore year? Or do they need to be spread out? 2. A lot of the doctors I shadowed are branches of internal medicine. I shadowed a general internist for primary care, a cardiologist, and GI doctor. Although they do different things, they all are trained in internal... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

40M low ASCVD, will statin reduce risk of plaque over time?
Hi colleagues. I'm a new PCP. I have 40M with ASCVD risk < 2% who has LDL 150. His previous doctor put him in atorvastatin 10. The argument is that keeping the LDL down on a young guy will reduce the risk of plaque build up. Pt wants to know why I am waiting till he turns 60 for the ASCVD risk score to go up before starting statin. How do I explain the rationale to the patient? Are there any references or guidelines you can direct me too? Thanks for your help. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can anyone with the Littman CORE Digital Stethoscope answer this question?
To anyone with the Littman CORE digital stethoscope: Do you find the analog auscultation (w/o digital amplification) worse than a conventional cardiology (maybe even the classics)? Sacred Heart to lay off 8 psychiatric physicians in move to cut costs, change care model Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center will lay off eight physicians caring for psychiatric patients, in a move that is anticipated to save between $2 million and $4 million and help the hospital's health care workers meet a need in the community beyond its doors. www.spokesman.com Like a hospital administrator told me in my last job, no matter what the politicians say about increasing resources to treat mental illness, the funding is never there.
