Presence of Breast Cancer Information Recorded in United Kingdom Primary Care Databases: Comparison of CPRD Aurum and CPRD GOLD (Companion Paper 1)
CONCLUSION: Overall, there was consistency between data elements related to malignant breast cancer recorded in CPRD Aurum and GOLD, particularly for the most informative clinical details. These findings provide reassurance that breast cancer information recorded in CPRD Aurum is generally comparable to that recorded in the previously validated CPRD GOLD and support the use of CPRD Aurum for breast cancer research.PMID:38126005 | PMC:PMC10731985 | DOI:10.2147/CLEP.S434795 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Breast amyloidosis associated with Sj ögren syndrome: A diagnostic pitfall in breast pathology
CONCLUSION: Although rare, an awareness of the clinicopathologic characteristics of this easily overlooked entity is of great importance for breast surgeons.PMID:38108337 | DOI:10.3233/BD-230006 (Source: Breast Disease)

Patient-Reported Outcomes in Patients Undergoing Lumpectomy With and Without Defect Closure
CONCLUSIONS: Despite a larger lumpectomy-to-breast volume ratio among patients undergoing defect repair, satisfaction was equivalent among those whose defects were or were not repaired at 2 years postsurgery. Defect repair was associated with clinically relevant improvement in patient-reported sexual well-being.PMID:38063989 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14584-z (Source: Ann Oncol)

Association of clinicopathologic and molecular factors with the occurrence of positive margins in breast cancer
ConclusionThe occurrence of positive margins after surgery was associated with various clinical factors, similar to the findings reported in earlier studies. In addition, we found that the PAM50 intrinsic subtype Luminal A has more chance of obtaining positive margins compared to Basal type. As the first effort to pursue molecular understanding of the margin status, a gene panel of 29 genes including 17 protein-coding genes was also identified for potential prediction of the margin status which needs to be validated using a larger sample set.
