High ATP6V1B1 expression is associated with poor prognosis and platinum ‑based chemotherapy resistance in epithelial ovarian cancer
Oncol Rep. 2023 May;49(5):102. doi: 10.3892/or.2023.8539. Epub 2023 Mar 31.ABSTRACTThe vacuolar ATPase H+ transporting V1 subunit B1 (ATP6V1B1) belongs to the family of ATP6Vs, which functions to transport hydrogen ions. The expression of ATP6V1B1 and associated clinicopathological features have been linked to various cancers; however, its role in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) has remained to be explored. The present study aimed to unveil the function, molecular mechanisms and clinical significance of ATP6V1B1 in EOC. The mRNA levels of ATP6V1 subunits A, B1 and B2 in EOC tissues were determined using data from the Gene ...

An uncommon paratubal cyst: Serous borderline tumor
Preoperative diagnosis of paratubal serous borderline tumors is difficult to establish. The correct diagnosis relies on histological examination with adequate sampling. AbstractParatubal cysts are almost always benign, with rare reports of paratubal serous borderline tumors (PSBT). Only 10 cases of PSBT have been reported in the literature. Their treatment in young patients relies on fertility-preserving surgery. Herein, the authors report a case of PSBT revealed by chronic pelvic pain. (Source: Clinical Case Reports)

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 890: Lymph Node Involvement in Recurrent Serous Borderline Ovarian Tumors: Current Evidence, Controversies, and a Review of the Literature
n Achtari Borderline ovarian tumors (BOTs) account for 10–20% of epithelial ovarian neoplasms. They are characterized by their lack of destructive stromal invasion. In comparison to invasive ovarian cancers, BOTs occur in younger patients and have better outcome. Serous borderline ovarian tumor (SBOT) represents the most common subtype of BOT. Complete surgical staging is the current standard management but fertility-sparing surgery is an option for SBOT patients who are at reproductive age. While most cases of SBOTs have an indolent course with favorable prognosis, late recurrence and malignant transform...

A case of paraovarian tumor of borderline malignancy with decrease of apparent diffusion coefficient value and marked 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose accumulation
AbstractPara-ovarian cysts are occasionally encountered in clinical practice; however, malignant tumors derived from them are rare. Due to its rarity, the characteristic imaging findings of para-ovarian tumors with borderline malignancy (PTBM) are largely unknown. Herein, we report a case of PTBM, along with imaging findings. A 37-year-old woman came to our department with a suspected malignant adnexal tumor. Pelvic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a solid part within the cystic tumor with a decrease in the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value (1.16  × 10–3 mm2/s). We also performed...

Prognostic relevance of autophagy-related markers p62, LC3, and Beclin1 in ovarian cancer
CONCLUSION: Prominent p62 and LC3 expression in combination with weak Beclin1 expression in high-grade serous carcinoma indicates potential for the application of autophagy inhibitors in patients with this tumor subtype.PMID:36325670 | PMC:PMC9648085 | DOI:10.3325/cmj.2022.63.453 (Source: Croatian Medical Journal)
