Impact of COVID-19 on essential healthcare services at the primary healthcare level in Armenia: a qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the delivery and utilization of essential healthcare services at PHC facilities, especially for those with chronic conditions who needed continuous care. Unified national-level guidance and technical capacity are needed to direct the provision of essential services at the PHC level, promote effective health communication, and implement digital platforms for the uninterrupted provision of essential care during public health emergencies.PMID:38658818 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-024-02377-6 (Source: Primary Care)

Migraine headache and other risk factors associated with glaucoma among the adult population living in Armenia: a case –control study
ConclusionTimely case detection of glaucoma among those with average/low socio-economic status and those with family history of glaucoma could prevent further progression of the disease. Further studies to explore the relationship between migraine headache and specific types of glaucoma may be worthwhile. (Source: International Ophthalmology)

Development of a high-throughput liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry platform for the determination of intact natriuretic peptides in human plasma
We present an innovative, reliable, and antibody-free analytical method to determine multiple intact natriuretic peptides in human plasma. These biomolecules are routinely used to confirm the diagnosis and monitor the evolution of heart failure, so that their determination is essential to improve diagnosis and monitor the efficacy of treatment. However, common immunoassay kits suffer from main limitations due to high cross-reactivity with structurally similar species. In our method, we pre-treated the sample by combining salting-out with ammonium sulfate with microextraction by packed sorbent technique. Analyses were then ...

Exploring inheritance, and clinical penetrance of distal Xq28 duplication syndrome: insights from 47 new unpublished cases
ConclusionOur study provides key insights into distal Xq28 duplication. Most prenatal tests showed no major fetal ultrasound issues. Maternal inheritance was common, with unaffected mothers. In the postnatal group, a balanced gender distribution was observed. Among male family members, two fathers had ADHD, one was healthy, and one brother had mild symptoms, indicating partial penetrance in males. (Source: Journal of Human Genetics)

Brentuximab Vedotin Plus Ibrutinib in Relapsed and Refractory Hodgkin Lymphoma
Brentuximab vedotin (BV) is an antibody-drug conjugate that delivers monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE) to CD30+ cells and is safe and effective in relapsed/refractory (r/r) Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Although most patients respond to BV, only a minority will obtain a complete response (CR), and almost all patients eventually progress.Ibrutinib is a Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor highly active in multiple subtypes of non-Hodgkin lymphoma; limited data exist regarding its use in HL. It irreversibly inhibits interleukin-2-inducible kinase (ITK) with Th1 based immune responses. (Source: Clinical Lymphoma, Myeloma and Leukemia)

A Survival Analysis of Patients with Recurrent Epithelial Ovarian Cancer Based on Relapse Type: A Multi-Institutional Retrospective Study in Armenia
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, despite new therapeutic approaches, ovarian cancer continues to be one of the deadly malignant diseases affecting women, especially in developing countries with a lack of resources, where chemotherapy remains the primary available systemic treatment for the majority of patients. Low survival rates demonstrate the urgent need for more research focused on this group of patients with poor outcomes.PMID:38534933 | DOI:10.3390/curroncol31030100 (Source: Current Oncology)
