Rapid formation of aortoesophageal fistula complicated by mycotic thoracic aortic aneurysm secondary to infective endocarditis
Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2024 Mar 25. doi: 10.17235/reed.2024.10397/2024. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 73-year-old man was admitted with four weeks of intermittent fever. He had a history of total aortic arch replacement for aortic arch aneurysm four years prior. CT scans showed no abnormalities before admission. Repeated blood cultures yielded Streptococcus anginosus and Prevotella melaninogenica, suggesting infective endocarditis (IE). Transesophageal echocardiography revealed a vegetation on the aortic valve, confirming IE. He suddenly presented with massive hematemesis and hypotension. Endoscopy revealed an elevated lesi...

Long Term Outcomes of the Gore Excluder Low Permeability Endoprosthesis for the Treatment of Infrarenal Aortic Aneurysms
CONCLUSION: This multicentre study of real-world endovascular aneurysm repair data utilising the Gore Excluder LP endoprosthesis demonstrated robust long term survival and re-intervention rates, despite 37.9% of patients being treated outside IFU, with type 4 endoleak being rare. Treatment outside IFU significantly increased re-intervention rates and 1 year sac growth was associated with statistically significantly worse survival.PMID:38527519 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2024.03.028 (Source: PubMed: Eur J Vasc Endovasc ...)

Comparison of Open Thoracoabdominal Repair for Chronic Aortic Dissections and Aneurysms
Aortic dissection is common in patients undergoing open surgical repair of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA). Most often, dissection is chronic and is associated with progressive aortic dilatation. Because contemporary outcomes in chronic dissection are not clearly understood, we compared patient characteristics and outcomes after open TAAA repair between patients with chronic dissection and those with non-dissection aneurysm.
