Interleukin-15 and Tumor Necrosis Factor- < em > α < /em > in Iraqi Patients with Alopecia Areata
CONCLUSION: Both IL-15 and TNF-α are markers for alopecia areata. The level for these biomarkers was not affected by duration or disease activity, but it was affected by the type of disease, as the concentrations of IL-15 and TNF-α were higher in patient with Alopecia totalis than in other types of Alopecia.PMID:37206670 | PMC:PMC10191747 | DOI:10.1155/2023/5109772 (Source: Dermatology Research and Practice)

1368 Effects of phototherapy on refractory alopecia areata
Alopecia areata, an acquired disorder affecting the head or entire body, has an estimated lifetime prevalence of 1% –2%. Most patients with alopecia areata are refractory to treatment. JAK inhibitors are routinely used, but may not always be practical due to side effects or economic reasons. Phototherapy is safe and relatively inexpensive. We evaluated which patients benefit from phototherapy among 49 patients (31 universalis, 4 totalis, 11 multiple, and 3 ophiasis) receiving at least 10 phototherapy sessions at Nagoya City University Hospital over 2 years. Dupilumab Induced Hair Regrowth in Alopecia Totalis
J Drugs Dermatol. 2023 Apr 1;22(4):410-412. doi: 10.36849/JDD.6254.ABSTRACTAlopecia Areata (AA) is an autoimmune process that results in varying degrees of hair loss. Currently, there is no single treatment that has proven to be efficacious in a large cohort of patients. Dupilumab, a human monoclonal antibody recently approved for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, may be a potential treatment option for patients with treatment resistant AA.
