1368 Effects of phototherapy on refractory alopecia areata

Alopecia areata, an acquired disorder affecting the head or entire body, has an estimated lifetime prevalence of 1% –2%. Most patients with alopecia areata are refractory to treatment. JAK inhibitors are routinely used, but may not always be practical due to side effects or economic reasons. Phototherapy is safe and relatively inexpensive. We evaluated which patients benefit from phototherapy among 49 patients (31 universalis, 4 totalis, 11 multiple, and 3 ophiasis) receiving at least 10 phototherapy sessions at Nagoya City University Hospital over 2 years.
