The role of positive airway pressure treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Pulmonary Embolism
Conclusion: It was expected that PAPT improve outcomes in PE since reduction in intermittent hypoxia and in sleep fragmentation may reduce the hypercoagulable state. In this study, PAPT to control OSA was a risk and protective factor to high and low risk PE, respectively. These patients had more comorbidities that could impact the results. Further studies with larger and controlled samples are needed.
