Identification of Potential Diagnostic and Prognostic Pseudogenes in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Based on Pseudogene-miRNA-mRNA Competitive Network.

CONCLUSIONS In this study, 4 pseudogenes related to the diagnosis and prognosis of liver cancer were found through the construction of a ceRNA network. These 4 pseudogenes might constitute new therapeutic targets for liver cancer patients. PMID: 32457285 [PubMed - in process]

Basel, 13 July 2020 – Roche (SIX: RO, ROG; OTCQX: RHHBY) today announced that the Phase III IMagyn050 study showed that the addition of Tecentriq® (atezolizumab) to Avastin® (bevacizumab), paclitaxel and carboplatin did not meet its primary endpoint of progression-free survival (PFS) for the front-line treatment of women with newly diagnosed advanced stage ovarian cancer. Topline safety data indicate that safety for Tecentriq in combination with Avastin, paclitaxel and carboplatin was consistent with the known safety profile of the combination.“Ovarian cancer remains one of the most aggressive cancers a...

AbstractSystemic therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) used to be limited to patients with advanced diseases and multi-kinase inhibitors targeting tumor angiogenesis the major approach of developing new treatment options. In the past 3  years, new data from trials of both molecular targeted therapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) provided many new options of first- and second-line treatment for advanced HCC. Most notably, combination of ICI targeting the program cell death-1 (PD-1) pathway with other novel agents or conven tional anti-cancer therapy may further improve treatment efficacy in different clini...

Conclusion: In 2D and 3D studies in vitro and in a syngeneic model in vivo, the combination of vandetanib plus radiotherapy was more efficacious than either treatment alone. This new combination therapy for HCC merits evaluation in clinical trials.

CONCLUSIONS: Our initial results of active scanning PT for primary liver cancer demonstrated the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of this advanced technique in this setting. The potential of the combination of PT with other locoregional therapies is under evaluation. PMID: 32648818 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In this study, 1452 patients were enrolled. Independent risk factors for recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were analyzed for patients with and without CSPH. For HCC patients without CSPH, multivariate analysis suggested that microvascular invasion (MVI), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) ≥ 3, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) ≥ 150, tumor size> 5 cm, and the presence of a satellite lesion were independently associated with RFS. MVI, NLR ≥ 3, PLR ≥ 150, and advanced Barcelona clinical liver cancer (BCLC) stage contributed to mortality. However, neither NLR nor PLR showed any prognos...

Hironori Koga Takuji Torimura We sought to investigate the clinical profile(s) associated with the discontinuation of lenvatinib (LEN) due to severe adverse events (DLSAE) in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This retrospective study enrolled 177 patients with HCC treated with LEN. Independent factors associated with DLSAE were advanced age, albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) grade 2, fatigue grade ≥ 3, and appetite loss ≥ 2. The overall survival (OS) in the group that did not require DLSAE was significantly longer compared to the group that did require DLSAE (median survival time (MST): ...

Conclusion: DR suppressed steatosis-associated hepatic tumorigenesis in HCVcpTg mice, mainly due to attenuation of pathways involved in inflammation, cellular stress, cell proliferation, insulin signaling, and senescence. These findings support the notion that persistent 30% reduction of daily food intake is beneficial for preventing steatosis-associated hepatocarcinogenesis caused by HCV core protein.Liver Cancer
