Effect of high-intensity interval training and omega-3 supplementation on liver enzymes and lipid profile of young men

ConclusionIt seems that omega-3 consumption along with severe interval exercise is an effective factor in preventing from and improving cardiovascular risk factors and fatty liver in young inactive men since the regimen increases lipid metabolism due to the desirable effects on liver enzymes, lipid profile, and body composition.RésuméIntroductionIl est important d’évaluer l’effet des activités sportives sur les enzymes hépatiques afin de déterminer leur action préventive sur les pathologies hépatiques.

CONCLUSION: The results of this study demonstrated no difference between the monopolar loop and PK Button in regard to overall complications; however, there was a higher rate of bladder perforation with monopolar TURBT. PK Button vaporization for bladder tumors represents a promising alternative to traditional monopolar TURBT without compromising short term (3 month) cancer recurrence rates. Energy sealing devices achieve hemostasis of the blood vessels through sequential coagulation and transection. Although use has been widely spread in multiple surgical fields, safety for sealing collaterals of autologous grafts during bypass surgery is unknown. We compare the efficacy of the main sealing devices used, Electrothermal Bipolar Tissue Sealing System (EB; LigaSure, Valleylab Inc, Boulder, Colo) and Harmonic scalpel (HS; Ethicon, Somerville, NJ), vs conventional vessel ligation of saphenous vein collaterals for revascularization surgery.

AbstractGlycogenic hepatopathy (GH) is an underdiagnosed complication of uncontrolled type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). It appears as an acute relapsing hepatitis with reversible transaminase elevations secondary to excessive hepatic glycogen accumulation. Patients are often asymptomatic but can present with abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Physical examination shows hepatomegaly without splenomegaly. GH is diagnosed by biopsy as it is clinically indistinguishable from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a more common cause of hepatic dysfunction in diabetics. Here we describe a case of GH in a patient with uncon...

Abstract The newer atypical antipsychotic agents (AAPs) represent an attractive therapeutic option for a wide range of psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia and bipolar mania, because of the reduced risk of disabling extrapyramidal symptoms. However, their growing use has raised questions about their tolerability over the endocrine, metabolic, and cardiovascular axes. Indeed, atypical antipsychotic drugs are associated, to differing extents, with mild elevation of aminotransferases related to weight gain, AAP-induced metabolic syndrome, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Although the hepatic safety of new AAPs s...
