Prognostic Cardiovascular Markers in Chronic Kidney Disease

Chronic kidney disease (CKD), including end-stage renal disease (ESRD), is a public health issue worldwide, and is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. In addition, cardiovascular disease is a major cause of mortality in these patients. Both traditional and nontraditional risk factors associated with CKD can lead to remodeling of the myocardium and blood vessels, thereby resulting in cardiomyopathy, atherosclerosis and arterial stiffness. This can subsequently lead to ischemic heart disease, heart failure, cardiovascular death, rapid renal progression and progression to ESRD. Identifying these risk factors to allow for aggressive preventive and interventional strategies is important for the management of patients with CKD. This aim of this review was to survey the clinical outcomes of CKD using cardiac and vascular markers including echocardiographic parameters, systolic time intervals, electrocardiography, heart rate variability, ankle-brachial index, pulse wave velocity, differences between interarm and interankle blood pressure, and vascular calcification.Kidney Blood Press Res 2018;43:1363 –1363

CONCLUSIONS: YF acute severe cases show a generalised involvement of different organs (liver, spleen, heart, kidneys, intestines and pancreas), and different parameters were related to outcome. Factor V and lipase are independent variables associated with death, reinforcing the importance of hemorrhagic events due to fulminant liver failure and pointing to pancreatitis as a relevant event in the outcome of the disease. In this report, we characterize the case of a 23-year-old male regular drug user who died a few hours after NEH and ADB-FUBINACA consumption. His medical history showed arrhythmia in childhood, and some seizures. Autopsy found he had a BMI of 42.9, a hypertrophic and dilated heart, severe atherosclerosis of the valves, coronaries and the arteries, and edema of the internal organs. Conclusion: This study observed an inverse correlation between plasma LDL cholesterol and heart function in individuals with T2DM. Conclusion In this ‘real-world’ contemporary observational registry, patients with non-paroxysmal AF had a worse outcome, in terms of all-cause mortality, which was related to a more severe clinical profile. The risk of stroke at 1 year was relatively low, perhaps reflecting the high rates of anticoagulation use in this cohort.
