NIDA-SAHM Clinician Scientist Training Award in Substance Misuse and Substance Use Disorders The NIDA-SAHM Clinician Scientist Training Award in Substance Misuse and Substance Use Disorders (SUD), supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, will offer up to two awards of $22,500 each for support (including up to $2,500 for a mentor stipend).  Addressing adolescent and young adult substance misuse and substance use disorders (SUD) requires a comprehensive, integrated public health response. Health clinicians working with youth in clinical and community-based settings are well-positioned to translate emerging basic and intervention science into meaningful clinical and community-based interventions and to disseminate evidence-based SUD treatment. In an effort to deepen the blending of research evidence with policy and practice, this training award is intended to support the academic advancement of adolescent clinicians from diverse backgrounds (i.e., nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers, counselors, psychologists) who are still early in training (i.e., residents, graduate students, fellows, post-doctoral scholars, and faculty in their first year) to participate in a mentored project and to develop skills in adolescent substance abuse treatment.
