Recent research advances in metabolism, clinical and experimental
Metabolic disorders such as obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), dyslipidemia, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) – henceforth named metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), currently affect a large portion of the general population [1–3]. Due to the complications that they are associated with, namely cardiovascular diseases [CVD] and even mortality, metabolic disorders have an appr eciable impact on productivity and quality of life, and they constitute a challenge to the healthcare systems [4,5].
