Cardiovascular Disease in South Asians in the United States: Lifestyle Strategies for Risk Factor Reduction
The South Asian population represents a heterogenous group of people from seven countries: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Collectively, South Asians (SAs) constitute nearly a quarter of the world's population and are one of the fastest growing demographics in the United States.1 However, they also suffer a disproportionately larger burden of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).
