Notes on the 2020 Longevity Therapeutics Conference in San Francisco
I recently attended the 2020 Longevity Therapeutics conference in San Francisco. I presented on the work ongoing at Repair Biotechnologies, but as is usually the case the more important parts of the visit took place outside the bounds of the conference proper. Longevity Therapeutics is one of the four or five core conferences for the longevity industry, at which you'll meet many of the early participants - a mix of scientists, entrepreneurs, and investors, and patient advocates. As such, most of the conference goers have already seen my updates, or are otherwise aware of the Repair Biotechnologies programs aimed at thymic ...

How Conflict Can Be Constructive
Full disclosure, I have long considered myself conflict avoidant. Chalk it up to being a Libra peacemaker, who craves harmonious relationships, as well as someone who grew up in a household in which raised voices were rare. As a result, I didn’t learn how to gracefully navigate the waters of opposing viewpoints. More often than not, I would “go along to get along” and refrain from rocking the boat lest it capsize in emotionally stormy seas. Those were also the roots of long-time co-dependency which led me to relationships in which I was often attempting to figure out how to maintain peace and keep everyone ha...

Emma AshfordAs we head into an election year, foreign policy is – for once – a key topic of discussion.Representing the progressive wing of the Democratic party, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are both advocating a comprehensive re ‐think of America’s approach to the world. Joe Biden, meanwhile is open about his intention to return to the post‐war liberal international consensus. Donald Trump continues to pursue a mostly conservative and nationalist approach to the world.Topics that once were outside the realm of foreign policy – notably immigration and trade – are increasingly part ...

Clarity Through Action
What’s the connection between clarity and action? Can you achieve better clarity just by diving in and taking lots of action? The short answer is yes. In fact, often this is a superior approach to making advance plans, at least in terms of the clarity gains you’ll experience. A key reason that direct action can help you gain clarity is that when you take action, you map out more of the possibility space. Action usually involves exploration. The more you take action, the more you explore. Even when your actions don’t work out, you’re still mapping out part of the possibility space. And this can easily help you...

A Letter to Ms. Judy Faulkner & Mr. Tommy Thompson
By GRACE CORDOVANO PhD, BCPA Being a patient or a carepartner can be a lonely, powerless place. There’s no high powered legal or lobbying team to help support you in your or your loved one’s health care journey. There’s no PR team at your beck and call. There’s no advisory board, no executive committee, no assistants, no chatbots or AI-powered technology coming to the rescue. There’s no funding or a company sponsoring your efforts. There’s no course in how to be a professional patient or carepartner. There’s no one there in the stillness and dark of the night, when you are in the quiet of your tho...
