Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome Associated Syncope After Orthotopic Heart Transplantation
Orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT) patients may develop a variety of arrhythmias. Accessory pathway (AP) dependent supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), namely Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is rare in these patients. There is wide variability in how OHT patients manifest symptoms of WPW, ranging from minimal or none to abrupt syncope due to hemodynamic compromise. (Source: Journal of Cardiac Failure)

„Asymptomatisches WPW“

Multicenter cohort study on duration of antiarrhythmic medication for supraventricular tachycardia in infants
Conclusion: Shortening AM duration in infants from 12 to 6  months does not seem to lead to more frequent SVT recurrence. The risk factors for recurrence of SVT were WPW syndrome, need of combination AM, and age over 1 month.What is Known:• Despite the evidence of spontaneous resolution of supraventricular tachycardia episodes in infants, the antiarrhythmic medication is often continued for up to twelve months.• The optimal approach for duration of antiarrhythmic medication remains unknown..What is New:• Shortening the duration of antiarrhythmic medication in infants with supraventricular tachycardia does not seem ...

Electrophysiological guided accessory-pathway ablation strategy in children with asymptomatic WPW: it may not be enough to prevent sudden cardiac death
ConclusionsMore than 50% asymptomatic WPW children present high-risk AP properties. EPS-based risk stratification using isoproterenol was not able to identify increased risk of future events or SCD. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology)

Repair of Congenital Right Atrial Aneurysm Associated With Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome in a 5-Year-Old Girl
This report describes our experience with a 5-year-old girl who had an extremely rare presentation of a right atrial aneurysm and associated Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. Before being referred to our department, she underwent an ineffective radiofrequency ablation for repeated episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia that were causing dizziness, palpitations, and chest discomfort. We resected the aneurysm with good results; she was doing well and was in normal sinus rhythm at the time of her 1-year follow-up visit.PMID:36223224 | DOI:10.14503/THIJ-20-7388 (Source: Texas Heart Institute Journal)

The characteristics of pre ‐excitation syndrome concomitant with atrial tachyarrhythmia and the effect of radiofrequency ablation
Conclusions: WPW with concomitant ATA frequently had continuous anterograde conduction over the AP with a rapid ventricular rate. Most WPWs displayed the characteristic of unidirectional anterograde conduction. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved (Source: Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology : PACE)
