Partial atrioventricular septal defect associated with wolff-parkinson-white syndrome: Perioperative dysrhythmias during the intracardiac repair
Ann Card Anaesth. 2021 Oct-Dec;24(4):479-482. doi: 10.4103/aca.ACA_49_20.ABSTRACTWolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) is rarely seen in association with atrioventricular septal defect. Although paroxysm's of palpitation due to supraventricular tachycardia can occur in these patients, rare, fatal, ventricular dysrhythmias can also occur. Herein, we report the case of a 20-year-old male patient with partial atrioventricular septal defect and WPW syndrome for intracardiac repair, developing intraoperative Torsades de pointes and postoperative cardiac arrest, adding to the difficulty in overall patient management.PMID:34747759...

Performance of a novel ECG criterion for improving detection of left ventricular hypertrophy: a cross-sectional study in a general Chinese population
Conclusions The NCRCHS criterion significantly improved sensitivity for LVH detection in a general Chinese population, with cut-off values of 36.8 and 26.1 mV for males and females, respectively. This criterion can detect LVH earlier and better and may prevent subsequent cardiovascular diseases. (Source: BMJ Open)

Electromechanical Wave Imaging With Machine Learning for Automated Isochrone Generation
In this study, we developed and optimized an automated ZC selection algorithm, towards a faster more robust isochrone generation approach. The algorithm either relies on heuristic-based baselines or machine learning classifiers. Manually generated isochrones, previously validated against 3D intracardiac mapping, were considered as ground truth during training and performance evaluation steps. The machine learning models applied herein for the first time were: i) logistic regression; ii) support vector machine (SVM); and iii) Random Forest. The SVM and Random Forest classifiers successfully identified accessory pathways in ...

B-ab13-02 a novel variant in mannose receptor c-type 2 identified in individuals with familial wolff-parkinson-white syndrome
Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is the most common arrhythmia disorder observed in patients with structurally normal hearts and affects up to 1% of the population. A common cause of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) worldwide, WPW contributes to sudden cardiac death in otherwise healthy children and adults. The genetic basis of WPW syndrome remains to be elucidated in individuals with structurally normal hearts. (Source: Heart Rhythm)
