Declining use of inguinofemoral lymphadenectomy in the treatment of clinically negative, pathologic node positive vulvar cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Among cN-/pN+ vulvar cancer patients in the NCDB, the practice of performing IFL decreased over time as SLNB-alone became more common and the majority received radiation +/- chemotherapy. There was no difference in OS between SLNB-alone vs. IFL +/- SLNB. Patients treated with adjuvant chemoradiation had improved survival. Whether the favorable outcomes in the SLNB-alone cohort may be attributed to radiotherapy dose escalation or use of chemotherapy warrants further study.PMID:35550710 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2022.05.001 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Cancers, Vol. 14, Pages 2264: Vulvar Cancer: 2021 Revised FIGO Staging System and the Role of Imaging
This article aims to review the etiopathogenesis revised 2021 International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) classification and emphasize imaging in the staging of vulvar cancer. The staging has been regulated by FIGO since 1969 and is subjected to multiple revisions. Previous 2009 FIGO classification is limited by the prognostic capability, which prompted the 2021 revisions and issue of a new FIGO classification. Although vulvar cancer can be visualized clinically, imaging plays a crucial role in the staging of the tumor, assessing the tumor extent, and planning the management. In addition, sentinel lymph no...

Juvenile Xanthogranuloma as Differential Diagnosis of a Vulvar Mass: A Case Report
We present a 16-month-old girl with a 2 cm solid mass on her left labia majora, with four overlying cutaneous papules. After imaging tests, an excisional biopsy was programmed due to high malignancy suspicion. Histopathology of the mass and one of the papules was diagnostic for JXG. After a 12-month follow-up, the patient shows no signs of relapse or complication. Deep JXG is an uncommon entity in childhood and exceptional in the genital area. Therefore, it must be included in the differential diagnosis of a solid vulvar mass, especially if accompanying yellowish xanthomatous cutaneous lesions are present. [...] Georg Th...

VEGF-D Serum Level as a Potential Predictor of Lymph Node Metastasis and Prognosis in Vulvar Squamous Cell Carcinoma Patients
ConclusionsThe preoperative sVEGF-D level might be a reliable biomarker for the prediction of lymph node metastasis and prognosis in patients with VSCC, supporting better clinical/surgical decision. Multicenter prospective studies are required to confirm our findings. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Cancers, Vol. 14, Pages 1822: Early Diagnostics of Vulvar Intraepithelial Neoplasia
dale The spectrum of vulvar lesions ranges from infective and benign dermatologic conditions to vulvar precancer and invasive cancer. Distinction based on the characteristics of vulvar lesions is often not indicative of histology. Vulvoscopy is a useful tool in the examination of vulvar pathology. It is more complex than just colposcopic examination and presumes naked eye examination accompanied by magnification, when needed. Magnification can be achieved using a magnifying glass or a colposcope and may aid the evaluation when a premalignant or malignant lesion is suspected. It is a useful tool to establish the best lo...
