The Clinicopathologic Challenge of Nonneoplastic Vulvar Acanthosis
Conclusions There is a group of acanthotic tissue reactions that cannot be classified with standard histopathologic assessment. Further clinicopathologic research into unilateral acanthotic lesions may provide insight into separation of psoriasis and mycosis when organisms are absent. Once nuclear atypia is excluded, immunohistochemistry for p16 and p53 and HPV molecular testing do not assist in diagnostic identification. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Risk of Development of Vulvar Cancer in Women With Lichen Sclerosus or Lichen Planus: A Systematic Review
Conclusions Vulvar lichen sclerosus is associated with an increased risk of VC, especially in the presence of dVIN and with advancing age. Ultrapotent topical steroids seem to reduce this risk. An increased risk of developing VC has been suggested for VLP. Hence, treatment and regular life-long follow-up should be offered to women with VLS or VLP. The European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD), the European College for the Study of Vulval Disease (ECSVD) and the European Federation for Colposcopy (EFC) Consensus Statements on Pre-invasive Vulvar Lesions
The European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD), the European College for the Study of Vulval Disease (ECSVD), and the European Federation for Colposcopy (EFC) developed consensus statements on pre-invasive vulvar lesions in order to improve the quality of care for patients with vulvar squamous intraepithelial neoplasia, vulvar Paget disease in situ, and melanoma in situ. For differentiated vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (dVIN), an excisional procedure must always be adopted. For vulvar high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (VHSIL), both...

Differentiated Exophytic Vulvar Intraepithelial Lesions: Case Reports and Review of Literature
Conclusions Differentiated vulvar intraepithelial lesions and invasive squamous cell carcinoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of vulvar itch associated with hypertrophic plaques in postmenopausal women. Excision of suspicious plaques is recommended for definitive diagnosis. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Presenting Symptoms and Diagnosis of Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus in Premenopausal Women: A Cross-Sectional Study
Conclusions Vulvar LS affects premenopausal women, commonly presenting with dyspareunia and tearing with intercourse. This condition should be considered and evaluated in premenopausal women presenting with vulvar symptoms and sexual pain. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Diagnostic Pearls of Vulvar Epidermolytic Acanthoma: Case Report
Ann Dermatol. 2022 Jun;34(3):221-224. doi: 10.5021/ad.2022.34.3.221. Epub 2022 May 20.ABSTRACTEpidermolytic acanthomas (EA) are uncommon benign tumors clinically presenting as single to multiple papules. Histologically, EA display hyperkeratosis, hypergranulosis, acanthosis, and epidermal degeneration-also known as epidermolytic hyperkeratosis (EH). EA may be misdiagnosed as condyloma both clinically and histopathologically when located on the genitalia. Thus, this diagnosis carries a significant psychological burden and must remain in the differential when initially considering genital warts. We utilize the case of a 62-y...
