The effects of continuous versus rotational grazing on horse pasture nutrient content
This study examined the changes in pasture nutrient content under continuous and rotational equine grazing in the first year of a multi-year study. The study was performed from June 2015 to July 2016 at a rotational grazing demonstration farm at the Virginia Tech Middleburg Agricultural Research and Extension Center consisting of a 3.2 ha rotational grazing system (RG) and a 3.2 ha continuous grazing system (CG). The Virginia Tech Massacre: Strategies and Challenges for Improving Mental Health Policy on Campus and Beyond
Since the tragic events at Virginia Tech in 2007, in which 1 student gunned down 27 fellow students, 5 faculty members, and injured a score of others before taking his own life, many more such shootings have occurred on campuses. Most have taken place in the United States. Columbine (whose episode preceded that of Virginia Tech), Fort Hood, Gabby Giffords, Aurora, and Sandy Hook are emblazoned on our collective American consciousness. Students, faculty, and staff at college and university settings have since become all too familiar with the email/text/phone drills of “ACTIVE SHOOTER ON CAMPUS,” while dreading the time ...

Publication date: Available online 13 January 2016 Source:Journal of Food Composition and Analysis Author(s): Katherine M. Phillips, Amy S. Rasor A wide range of nutrients and health-promoting non-nutrient components in mushrooms are a subject of international research, but specific reference materials to facilitate comparison of results among laboratories are lacking. Commercially available food matrix reference materials do not contain components unique to mushrooms (e.g., ergosterol, vitamin D2, chitin, beta-glucans, agaritine, ergothioneine). A Mixed Mushroom Control Material (CM) (homogeneous mixture of 15 typ...
