Comparison of three alternatives for the management of moderate asthma in children aged 6 to 11 years: a cost-utility analysis
ConclusionOur study showed that SMART was more cost-effective than fixed combination and fixed-dose budesonide. These findings complement and support the GINA 2021 and National Asthma Education and Prevention Program asthma guideline recommendations for use of ICS-formoterol in children 6-11 years old with persistent asthma.PMID:35786145 | DOI:10.1080/02770903.2022.2093221 (Source: Journal of Asthma)

A review of the efficacy and safety of fluticasone propionate/formoterol fixed-dose combination
Expert Rev Respir Med. 2022 Jun 21:1-12. doi: 10.1080/17476348.2022.2089117. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Fluticasone propionate/formoterol fumarate (FP/FORM) is one of the newer combinations among inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) and long-acting β2-agonist (LABA) combination formulations currently available. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of this FP/FORM combination, it is important to review all the available evidence and take a comprehensive look at the current and relevant data in the patient population suffering from asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).AREAS COVERED: In this focuse...

Random Walk Algorithm-Based Computer Tomography (CT) Image Segmentation Analysis Effect of Spiriva Combined with Symbicort on Immunologic Function of Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer
The objective of this research was to explore the effect of the treatment regimen of Spiriva combined with Symbicort on the immune function of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) based on computed tomography (CT) imaging features. An automatic CT image segmentation algorithm (RW-CT) was constructed based on random walk (RW) and image segmentation technology. The image segmentation algorithm based on the Toboggan method (C-CT) was introduced to compare with the traditional RW algorithm. 60 subjects were divided into four groups: a Chinese combined with Western medicine group (treated with Spiriva combined with Symbicort, gro...

A case of bronchial asthma caused by exposure to aspergillus oryzae in a japanese rice wine brewery worker
Arerugi. 2022;71(4):321-327. doi: 10.15036/arerugi.71.321.ABSTRACTA-55-year-old man who have been working in a Sake (Japanese rice wine) brewer for 27 years, came to the outpatient clinic because cough, dyspnea, and wheeze gradually worsen. These symptoms occurred immediately after exposure to Aspergillus oryzae in the brewing process since age 43. A dust mask was required to reduce these symptoms, but that work was interrupted by exacerbation of these symptoms. These symptoms disappeared when he was away from the on-site work. The SMART therapy using combined inhaler of budesonide (ICS) with formoterol (LABA) was effectiv...
