Biomedical PhD with schizoaffective disorder
I’m kind of getting the idea that medical school is not really an option for me with schizoaffective disorder because licensing may be an issue, but would a PhD in microbiology and immunology be feasible? I understand that a lot of people in my position simply get on disability and smoke cigarettes all day, but I really want to make something of myself and am wondering if this is a plausible path for me. Smoking a cig in the ambulance bay
Has anyone ever just needed to step out into the ambulance bay for a quick smoke? No? Well neither have I, I’m out here now sipping on my Luke warm coffee after getting yelled at by a nurse with a clip board. Feels about the same I’d imagine. Here's an interesting case 65 year old patient, heavy smoker. Had a partial laryngectomy and ipsilateral (right) neck dissection in 2019 for a pT1 pN0 (0/20) G3 SCC in the right supraglottic area. Clear margins, no adjuvant treatment. A suspicious lymph node was palpated in the left neck (level II) during follow-up, biopsy showed SCC, p16 negative. An interesting case
52 yo male scheduled for right thoracoscopy for tumor vs empiema (tough surgery was sure It was on the cancer side) with a history of heavy smoking over 20 years, HBP with no treatment, dilated miocardiopath, heart failure with FEV1 20%, recent onset AF. Current meds are digoxine, furosemide, enalapril and metoprolol.
