Aamc fl2 #56 (ps)
This is more of a general question regarding research methods; can a study be experimental and correlational at the same time? The passage referred to a study where smokers were randomly assigned into a control and experimental (yoga) group in order to determine the efficacy of yoga as a smoking cessation therapy and were followed over some months. The fact that they were randomly assigned to 2 groups and followed over a period of time shows that it is both experimental and longitudinal,... AAMC FL2 #56 (PS) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Undergrad genetics course - irrelevant for medicine?
I'm curious whether anyone else shares my opinion on this class being a nearly complete waste of time? I'm currently taking this as a pre-req, and I'd have to say that it is one of the top two or three most hated classes I've ever taken. I'm literally angry after a couple of hours of studying it, because I really couldn't care less about the genetic peculiarities of deep sea Archaea residing near black smokers, or what particular wild-form gene was mutated in the third step of an... T2?N1? NSCLC Case - any suggestions?
I have a 77 year old male, long time smoker with COPD (FEV1 ~35% of predicted, DLCO 20% of predicted, on O2 prn). Not a surgical candidate. He was diagnosed with what was initially thought to be a ~4 cm peripheral left upper lobe squamous cell. CT C/A/P negative for nodal or distant mets (non contrast). For whatever reason he had EBUS before PET. All nodes "looked small" so none sampled. Then came PET and a small L hilar ?node? is hot (PET done without IV contrast, so no node was seen... T2?N1? Can someone blackmail me out of a med school acceptance
I always make sure no one takes a picture of me when I'm doing something like drinking or anything else bad. But I feel like an ex could have videos of me drinking or smoking. Can someone send these to schools they find out i get accepted to? Or am I just being overly paranoid? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
