GSE261348 Spatially preserved multi-region transcriptomic subtyping and biomarkers of outcome with chemoimmunotherapy in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer [IMfirst_DSP cohort]
In this study, we aimed to assess intratumoral transcriptomic subtype diversity and to identify biomarkers associated with long-term chemoimmunotherapy benefit in human ES-SCLC. Our work highlights that high intratumoral heterogeneity, lack of consistent association with outcome, and unclear subtype-specific target expression are major challenges for SCLC subtype-based precision oncology. Pre-existing IFN ϒ-driven immunity and mitochondrial metabolism seem key correlates of long-term efficacy for chemoimmunotherapy in ES-SCLC. (Source: GEO: Gene Expression Omnibus)

Rational and design of prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) and brain MRI surveillance versus brain MRI surveillance alone in patients with limited-stage small cell lung cancer achieving complete remission (CR) of tumor after chemoradiotherapy: a multicenter prospective randomized study
Prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) is part of standard care in limited-stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC) at present. As evidence from retrospective studies increases, the benefits of PCI for limited-stag... (Source: BMC Cancer)

Evaluation of radiotherapy treatment plans in a randomized phase II trial comparing two schedules of twice-daily thoracic radiotherapy in limited stage small-cell lung cancer
There is limited clinical data for recommendations on how to deliver thoracic radiotherapy (TRT) concurrently with chemotherapy in limited stage (LS) small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). We reviewed radiotherapy treatment plans in a randomized phase II trial comparing high-dose with standard-dose twice-daily TRT to assess treatment planning techniques, dose-volume data for target volumes and organs at risk (OARs), evaluate compliance with the protocol, associations with radiation-induced toxicity and whether an imbalance in treatment planning parameters might be a reason for the large survival benefit of the higher dose (median ...

Updated cost-effectiveness analysis of adebrelimab plus chemotherapy for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer in China
Conclusions From the perspective of the Chinese healthcare system, adebrelimab in combination with chemotherapy for the treatment of ES-SCLC was not economical compared with chemotherapy. (Source: BMJ Open)

Bilateral synchronous double primary lung cancer: A case report
This study analyzed the clinical data of a patient with bilateral sDPLC, aiming to improve medical workers' understanding of the disease and avoid missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis.ABSTRACT: A 68-year-old male was admitted to the hospital with "intermittent cough and expectoration for two months." Enhanced chest computed tomography (CT) showed that the upper lobe of the left lung had a mass of high-density shadow, bronchial opening of the left lobe was thickened, lumen was narrow, and middle lobe of the right lung had a mass of high-density shadow. Bronchoscopy was performed to observe the microscopic characteristics of th...

Engineering CD3/CD137 Dual Specificity into a DLL3-Targeted T-Cell Engager Enhances T-Cell Infiltration and Efficacy against Small-Cell Lung Cancer
Cancer Immunol Res. 2024 Apr 1:OF1-OF12. doi: 10.1158/2326-6066.CIR-23-0638. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSmall-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive cancer for which immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) have had only limited success. Bispecific T-cell engagers are promising therapeutic alternatives for ICI-resistant tumors, but not all patients with SCLC are responsive. Herein, to integrate CD137 costimulatory function into a T-cell engager format and thereby augment therapeutic efficacy, we generated a CD3/CD137 dual-specific Fab and engineered a DLL3-targeted trispecific antibody (DLL3 trispecific). The CD3/CD137 dual...

Identification of volatile biomarkers for lung cancer from different histological sources: A comprehensive study
Anal Biochem. 2024 Mar 31:115527. doi: 10.1016/j.ab.2024.115527. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe identification of noninvasive volatile biomarkers for lung cancer is a significant clinical challenge. Through in vitro studies, the recognition of altered metabolism in cell volatile organic compound (VOC) emitting profile, along with the occurrence of oncogenesis, provides insight into the biochemical pathways involved in the production and metabolism of lung cancer volatile biomarkers. In this research, for the first time, a comprehensive comparative analysis of the volatile metabolites in NSCLS cells (A549), SCLC cells (H...
