TREM1/DAP12 based novel multiple chain CAR-T cells targeting DLL3 show robust anti-tumour efficacy for small cell lung cancer
In this study, we have developed a DLL3-TREM1/DAP12 CAR-T (DLL3-DT CAR-T) therapy, demonstrating comparable anti-tumour efficacy against SCLC cells in vitro. In murine xenograft and patient-derived xenograft models, DLL3-DT CAR-T cells exhibited a more robust tumour eradication efficiency than second-generation DLL3-BBZ CAR-T cells. Furthermore, we observed elevated memory phenotypes, induced durable responses, and activation under antigen-presenting cells in DLL3-DT CAR-T cells. Collectively, these findings suggest that DLL3-DT CAR-T cells may offer a novel and potentially effective therapeutic strategy for treating DLL3-...

Role of CD38 in anti-tumor immunity of small cell lung cancer
ConclusionOur study provides a preliminary but important direction toward exploring CD38 as a potential biomarker of ICB response and CD38 blockade as a combination strategy for chemo-immunotherapy in SCLC. (Source: Frontiers in Immunology)

Predicting overall survival and prophylactic cranial irradiation benefit in small-cell lung cancer with CT-based deep learning: A retrospective multicenter study
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. In the United States alone in 2022, it accounted for approximately 130,180 fatalities, constituting 21% of all cancer-related mortality [1]. Small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), a subtype of lung cancer, is a highly aggressive neuroendocrine tumor with poor differentiation. It tends to metastasize early and has an unfavorable prognosis, accounting for roughly 15% of all lung cancer cases [2,3]. Currently, SCLC is categorized into limited and extensive stages according to the widely accepted staging criteria of the Veteran Affairs Lung Group, with extensive...

Prognostic significance of body mass index and serum albumin as the indicators of nutritional status in small cell lung cancer
CONCLUSION: Even though BMI and serum albumin showed no prognostic value in SCLC patients treated with chemotherapy, PS was found to be the most significant prognostic factor in both LD- and ED-SCLC stages.PMID:38456321 | DOI:10.1080/00325481.2024.2328512 (Source: Postgraduate Medicine)

Emerging role of tumor suppressing microRNAs as therapeutics in managing non-small cell lung cancer
Pathol Res Pract. 2024 Feb 23;256:155222. doi: 10.1016/j.prp.2024.155222. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLung cancer (LC) is the second leading cause of death across the globe after breast cancer. There are two types of LC viz. small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). NSCLC accounts for approximately 85% of all LC cases. NSCLC affects smokers and people who do not smoke and mainly arises in bronchi and peripheral lungs tissue. LC is often characterized by the alterations of key genes such as EGFR, Wnt/β-catenin signaling, ALK, MET, K-Ras and p53 and downstream signaling pathways associated with...

Preparation of etoposide liposomes for enhancing antitumor efficacy on small cell lung cancer and reducing hematotoxicity of drugs
Eur J Pharm Biopharm. 2024 Mar 5:114239. doi: 10.1016/j.ejpb.2024.114239. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEtoposide (VP-16) is commonly used in the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) in clinical practice. However, severe adverse reactions such as bone marrow suppression toxicity limit its clinical application. Although several studies on VP16 liposomes were reported, no significant improvement in bone marrow suppression toxicity has been found, and there was a lack of validation of animal models for in vivo antitumor effects. Therefore, we attempted to develop a PEGylated liposomal formulation that effectively encaps...
